Weekend Mailbox #3

George the something or other post box
Elizabeth II post box. I think we'd have guessed this as there were no postal services in the time of Good Queen Bess.
Probably the design of the crown on George's box would tell us which George it was - but I don't know!

  2. Wow! I did not realise that those "George" boxes were still being used in England! Amazing how the same style of box persisted for Elizabeth! Great collection of shots and thanks for joining in again! Have a great weekend!

  4. I must have saved a fortune by not having George numbers on them. The same ones could be used for all.

  5. Thank you folks :-)
Marja - GR means George Rex, Rex being Latin for King. EIIR means Elizabeth II Regina, Regina meaning Queen.
Chris - LOL!! Never thought of that :-)

  10. I love these mailboxes. They have such a permanent feel to them, not something that could be pushed over by some rowdies on a Saturday night. Thanks for sharing.
