Weekend Reflections #39

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James at Newtown Area Photo. Thank you, James!
This brass plaque commemorates the lying in state of Admiral Lord Nelson in the Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. I didn't realise there was a reflection on it of the ceiling of the Painted Hall.
Nelson was killed at Trafalgar on 21st October 1805. His body was placed in a cask of brandy which was later replaced with spirits to preserve it during the long journey home.

  2. The reflection certainly adds interest and depth to what would otherwise be a plain tourist photo.

  5. Lovely reflection. infact, the figurative reflection on Nelson too is very intersting. we read about him and poems written about him back in school and i am so glad to see this picture now.

Btw Janice, i was wondering about your father's masonic regalia and meant to ask you if you had any. masonic museum?are there exclusive masonic museums?where? i thought they always drew or wrote or sculpted their 'legacy' in some interstingly hidden place!
    waiting for the photos.
    love, A

  7. Reflections are everywhere! And this is an unusual one. I like the watery look it has. Very pretty.

  13. That's a very interesting and original interpretation of the theme !
since yesterday I am surrounded by Wellington's soldiers and scottish soldiers running around in their skirts. This weekend is the reconstitution of the Waterloo battle and the town is full of soldiers in their historical costumes, journalists, tourists etc. I took already pictures, today I will continue !
It never had been such a big event !
