Microfiction Monday #44 Periscope up!

Susan from 'Stony River' organises and hosts this weekly meme. Thank you Susan J She provides a picture and the challenge is to create a story in 140 characters or less – including punctuation! Click here to read more marvels of microfiction – and perhaps join in. It's fun!

Here is this week's picture. There's a Flanders and Swann song called 'There's a bird on my head' and this image reminded me of it.

My offering with apologies to Keats ;-)

Oh, what can ail thee, Knight at arms?
What's this thing on top me 'elmet – a periscope? I ain't going in water for no-one. This stuff rusts!

  9. Funny one, Janice. Plus it's hard to swim wearing armor. I don't know HOW I know that but I think it's true. :)

  10. It DOES look like an odd helmet attachment. :) Wise warrior.

  11. Poor Knight, being made to be a Submarine, I hope he gets his Oil Can, if the experiments continue.

  12. Too funny! I don't blame him for refusing to jump into the water in that suit!

  13. Very nice, JB ~~ Now for the rusting problem, my Mr. Tin Man can loan you some WD-40. Can you get that in the U.K?

  15. Now there's a thought -- an amphibious suit of armor! LOL

  16. Very good, Jabblog! Not many entries made reference to the "periscope." Further . . . the suit seems to narrow a lot at the waist. I wondered if it was the ladies' model . . a sort of full-length, all-embrasing chastity belt.

P.S. I too felt I should to apologise to John Keats . .

  17. Maybe he could grease himself up first, like those who swim the English Channel ?

  18. Sounds like a large amount of common sense
