Poetry Jam Honky-tonk

More verse, though none worse, can be found here

Honky-tonk

To make a good piano
Sound like honky-tonk,
Put paper in the strings
And then begin to stonk
Those keys.

Play strides in the left hand,
Refrain with the right,
Listen to that rhythm,
Let harmony take flight,
Be free.

  2. I can hear the honky tonkin' on the piano! We now need some music bloggers to set all of our verses to music!

  3. All my life I've wanted a pink, honky-tonk, player piano (because I can't play a note, despite several tries at lessons). I still don't have one, however, and probably never will, now.
    Wonderful little verse, Janice!

  4. Love it Janice, you certainly have a way with words. Thanks for stopping by my post. It does sound like an Irish blessing doesn't it. Just goes to show no matter what part of the world we live in, we are somehow connected in the way we think.

  7. Is that really done? putting paper in the strings? It sounds like a fun thing to try, and it's a happy poem you've written. Thank you for the smile it brought me.
(for some reason, I'm having trouble getting the comment box to recognize me, and it's not wanted to post my comment. Anyway, this is Chris from Enchanted Oak, if it ever does actually post my comment.)

  8. Good one. I'm imagining a piano in the corner of a cowboy bar, the lights are low and the music begins. The honky tonk music fills the air.

  9. If only playing ANYTHING on the piano were that easy. Nice work.

  10. Sounds simple enough - which is probably why it makes such an excellent poem.
