Poetry Jam Thunder and Lightning

More verse, though none worse, can be found here

Thunder and lightning
Are awfully frightening;
I shiver and shake,
And quiver and quake,
My muscles tightening
And knuckles whitening
At every flash
And deafening crash.

Lightning and thunder
Make me go under
The bedclothes at night,
Right out of sight.
Nerves ripped asunder
I worry and wonder
Why I’m such a clot
And growing so hot!

Donner und blitzen
Make my head splitzen!
The rumbling ceases,
Courage increases,
I pour out a spritzing
Of soda and gin sling
To celebrate quiet,
Cessation of riot.

  2. Awesome. What a unique piece! I really love the creativity of the final stanza. "I pour out a spritzing, of soda and gin sling..." Unexpected. :)

  4. Wonderful, Janice. A fun piece of verse. (Our Lindy-dog is terrified of thunder, and we have to cuddle her close to keep her from vibrating.)
My previous dog was allowed to sit on the couch with me, but only during thunderstorms; so sometimes, if she heard a noise, she would pretend it was thunder, but she couldn't fake the vibrating.

  8. Cute poem, Janice. I little gin and soda to settle the nerves seems like a good idea with a "head splitzen"!

  9. I like this. Light-hearted if not light-headed. I rather like thunderstorms, 'tho' the ones we get here cannot even begin to compare with the ones we got in Minnesota!

  10. Janis, I like it when I happen upon some of your poetry! Excellent piece making light of a very real fear. I feel the same way about thunderstorms. They can bring high wind, power outages, even tornadoes. I always have flashlights handy!
