Succinctly Yours Week 10

Grandma's Goulash at Succinctly Yours hosts this microfiction meme. Each week she posts a photographic prompt for inspiration and the challenge is to write a story using no more than 140 characters or words. Below is this week's photo followed by my offering.
The young motorcyclist made her eyes glisten. She was pleased he wore a crash helmet. If her son had worn one he would still be alive.

  7. Whoa. What a scared-straight flash tale! Today, I am ever so glad to know that the word "microfiction" describes Succintly Yours.

I think I'll have that coffee now. Better yet, a mixed drink, because, sadly to say (and although it wasn't a son), this entry really hit home.

  8. My father wouldn't let me ride on motorcycles when I was a teen. I'm glad he didn't. You didn't have to wear helmets back then.

  17. Great twist on this, Janice! One does worry about safety on a bike...it surprises me how many people try to get by without a helmet...yikes!

  21. You've packed a huge emotional punch into a few words. A sad, but wonderfully done, microfiction that has plenty of food for thought.
