Book Blurb Friday #16 Mint Chocolate Magic

Each week she posts a photo that could be the cover of a book. The aim is to:
‘Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.’

Here is this week’s book cover. My blurb follows.

Mint Chocolate Magic

Meggie Campbell is eight years old and she loves dark mint chocolate but her mother tells her she should never eat more than two squares a day. She says that Meggie will regret it if she does. One day temptation proves too much and what follows is something Meggie will
never forget.

This modern fable is a scary cautionary tale that will also make children laugh. Will Meggie ever eat dark mint chocolate again? Would you? Read and find out.

  2. This reminds me of the children's book "The Chocolate Touch," which is a Midas-touch take-off.

I feel for Meggie. It's hard to resist mint chocolate.

  5. Oh, poor Meggie, she's bound to be tempted to three or more squares after being restricted to two. She's eight years old, a very good age for wondering "what if".
Nice work, Janice. A book like this might make children hesitate before trying to find out "what if".

  6. If Meggie is anything like me it'll go straight to her butt. LOL Great blurb...I can picture all kinds of great things and illustrations to go with it.

  7. What happens to the poor girl? Who could stop at only two? LOL! What a unique twist.

  8. I do want to find out what happens, but I hope it doesn't scare Meggie off chocolate for life. Probably not. You just can't do that to a true chocaholic. :D

  12. I never would have thought of a children's book for this picture, so I loved this take! (Although don't tell Meggie, but I know from experience that the only thing that happens to you when you eat WAY more than two squares is that the whole bar disappears very quickly, thereby necessitating a trip to the store for more. Well, and that weight thing.)

Have been meaning to tell you I enjoy looking at your garden flowers, too. I think it's funny that you are also partial to pinks and blues! Beautiful!
