There is hope for mankind . . .

There is hope for mankind when things like this happen.

Thirty dolphins were stranded on a beach at Arraial do Cabo in Brazil on March 5th 2012. Without the help of local people they would have perished.

Heartwarming stuff!

How wonderful! That brought a lump to my throat - there is so much cruelty and selfishness in the world that to see something like that - well, it made my day.

I love dolphins and am so happy they were rescued, but a part of me wonders if, as intelligent as they are, how they happened to be stranded. Were they, perhaps (and this is complete speculation) answering some kind of evolutionary pull? "We have to get to shore, we have to learn to walk."
Sea mammals surely came ashore at one time. Might the urge to do so again be left in their DNA?
Just my little theory. Probably invalid. But I wonder, because they would surely have felt "this water is too shallow, we have to turn around" otherwise.
