Winston’s August 2012 blog

Winston’s August 2012 blog
Winston here . . . p’rrrrr . . . p’rrrrr

Hello there, it’s me, Winston.

Why do people say ‘Hello there’? Why don’t they say ‘Hello here’ or ‘Hello somewhere else’ or ‘Hello then? What is it about ‘there’ that’s so important? I only say it ‘cos I hear the humans say it but I think it’s a bit silly so I’ll start againJ

Hello, it’s me, Winston. Well, I ask you, who else would it be when it says at the top ‘Winston’s August 2012 blog’. Who else would write it but me? Okay, I don’t ackcherly write it – I tell Mrs H what to write and how to write it and she does it for me ‘cos she’s got fingers what fit on the letters and my paws slide off. I do try sometimes but my claws catch under the letters and lift them off. It’s quite helpful of me ‘cos then she gets to see all the dust under the letters and she can clear it up. I think it’s funny seeing the letters flying across the floor but she doesn’t and she says things she shouldn’t and tries to click them back into place and sometimes she can’t and I have to look away so she doesn’t see me grinning, don’tcha know.  I don’t think she likes dust and that’s why she hides it away under the keys and on top of books and in the corners of the room. It’s hard not to see it when the wind blows, though, ‘cos it all rushes across the floor to hide somewhere else. She does get the masheen out sometimes to suck up all the dust but Gus gets frightened by it. He thinks it’s going to suck him up its spout, silly boy.

It’s been busy here – Tia and Foxy and Buster come to stay for ever but they’ve gone home with their own people now. I had to find a new quiet place ‘cos Buster and Bertie got too excited when they wanted to play with me and I got a bit squashed. Mrs H said they was leading me a dog’s life – that can’t be right, can it? I’m a cat!
Anyway, I found a place in a cupboard, on top of a box next to the dog biscuits.
Bertie wanted to get in with me but there wasn’t no room for him so he couldn’t. I did laugh.
Jenna tried . . .
. . . and so did Frodo and Buster but they was much too big, as well.

I wouldn’t want to live in a cupboard, don’tcha know, so I’m glad I didn’t have to stay there all the time. It was nice being so close to the food, though.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Time for a zizz. Be good!

  1. Well Winston it looks like you had things pretty much under control when your doggie friends were there. I'll bet you're glad they've left though. Dogs just don't appreciate a cats need for privacy. Now that they're gone, find yourself a nice spot in the sun and stretch out.

  7. Sorry bout the lil pups disturbing your peace, Winston. It's a doggy thing, you know? They can't help being boisterous, especially labs.Good though that U could nap with the biscuits alone. Did U get any?
Yeah! We agree. Humans are silly sometimes with their expressions!
Mummy hides dust underneath everywhere and then tries to suck them off too noisily when the wind makes them come out. Guess it's a human thing too.Sigh! The stuff we have to endure...

  9. Winston is a beauty. I share my space with three cats (one of whom is snoozing with her tail in my way on the keyboard) so I know how smart they are. Winston may say you're doing the typing for him, but I wouldn't put it past him to have figured out how to do it all by himself!

  12. It's funny Winston, but The Reluctant Dog owner also likes to keep her dust all over the place and in funny hiding spots too - it must be a human thing.

And thanks for keeping the doggie biscuits safe, we'll be over soon, OK?!

  13. Geez, what a hard time for you to live with so many dogs ! they are so noisy and bark for nothing ! Arthur loves to make them bark. My cats are good cleaning cats, they wipe the dust under the cupboards with their tales ! Very practical for me !

  15. So glad you got the better of those dogs Winston - poor you having to take refuge in the cupboard. You made me laugh about the hiding of the dust - I try to do that too but it usually escapes eventually :O)

  16. Hi Winston .. so good to hear your tales from Jablog land .. and am glad you've got your peace and quiet back once dawg pals have gone to their respective dawg homes ...

I thought your missus had turned the central heating on .. looks a good place for a cat - but it's fairly warm right now ..

Enjoy the rest of August - Mrs H I must say does type quite well - transcription must be her thing ..

Cheers to you both and all .. Hilary

  17. Good place to sit Winston! I like the way you held your ground despite all the dogs trying to get in. Tiger also likes the computer, but unlike you has attempted to type-but not successfully-her paws are faar too big. Sometimes she just sits across the whole thing so I have to look at her instead of it!

  18. Winston, I think you're funny, but please stay well away from my keyboard. I like having the letters hide my stash of dust!
