I expect Little One will be getting excited about Christmas.
Kay, we rarely see rabbits in our usual walking haunts and hares only seem to be noticeable around March, when they're courting. So the dogs don't chase them though I'm sure they would given the chance. They do chase deer, though :-)jabbloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12176958811589489979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2060029060849550094.post-36248141731732506062010-11-01T16:48:09.140+00:002010-11-01T16:48:09.140+00:00Wow - who knew there was so much rabbit lore? Wonderful.
I've never heard any of these before. Grandpa Davies grew up near Glasgow and Grandma was a Fraser from Aberdeen. They were both young adults when they moved to Canada, where they met, so I suspect the saying-rabbit-first-of-month wasn't a tradition in Scotland.
Interesting.
The Wikipedia photo of the young rabbit looks very much like the young rabbits we see here in the spring. When I first moved to Alberta, I hoped they might be jackrabbits, but they're not.
Lots of new things for my learn-something-new-every-day, thanks, Janice!!
Do your dogs ever see rabbits or hares and chase them? Our Lindy would like to chase rabbits but she doesn't leave our (large) back yard except on a leash.
-- K

Kay, Alberta, Canada
An Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous TravelKay L.
