Face of the Week #15 Must I?

Gus had to wear  the Buster/Elizabethan collar aka 'The Collar of Shame'  ( as seen in 'Up') because he could not resist licking his wound  . . .awww . . . poor boy! I took it off after a few minutes and he's such a quick learner that I haven't had to use it since . . . I don't want to see that sad face again . . .

  3. Oh poor Gus! I have one of those for Lily too but have not used it yet-though she is licking a bit but the vet said it might rub where her cut is. Poor things!

  4. Poor boy. It can't be much fun to wear one of those. He was smart to catch on right away so you could take it off.

  6. Awe;

    What a beautiful lab. Our last dog was a big black lab and he
    had to wear a collar like that a couple of times.
    They don't like it very much

  8. Oh no...poor boy. My greyhounds just hate that thing. We try to avoid it too. Look at that face, certainly I can see why you couldn't bear to leave it on. A marvelous 'Face of the Week' Gus is really a very handsome guy. Thank you so much for being a part of 'Face of the Week' this week. Greatly appreciated!

  10. A very quick learner. Harry had one of those once. He actually seemed very pleased to be wearing it.

  12. We call it a lamp shade. I'm glad to hear that Gus learned quickly so that he could go without the "collar of shame". I hope that his wound heals quickly.

  17. Awwww! Poor Gus!

    I found a great alternative to the 'lampshade' or 'Elizabethan' collar, it's called the 'BiteNot' collar. I had to get one for our first greyhound. Being sighthounds, greyhounds don't take well to the collars which obstruct their vision, they tend to stand with their heads against a wall and get depressed. But the BiteNot fits along the length of the neck and is much more easily accepted! I love it. And no, I don't get commission! LOL!

  18. Jay - LOL! I know it's not kind to laugh but 'they tend to stand with their heads against a wall and get depressed' made me giggle. 'BiteNot' - must remember that!
