Camera Critters #160 Six little ducks

We saw six mallards on one of the ponds the other day. They were quacking and reminded me of the song I used to sing with five and six-year-olds.  It’s an odd song, really, because it refers to ‘the one little duck with the feathers on his back’ as though all the other ducks were bald!

Six little ducks that I once knew,
Fat ones, skinny ones they were, too,
But the one little duck with the feathers on his back,
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack!

Down to the river they would go,
Wibble, wobble, wibble, wobble, to and fro,
But the one little duck with the feathers on his back,
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack!

Home from the river they would come,
Wibble, wobble, wibble, wobble, ho hum hum,
But the one little duck with the feathers on his back,
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack!
He ruled the others with his quack, quack, quack!

I'm linking to Camera Critters with this post.

  4. Very nice photo. I remember that old song too, and never did I really think about the fact that it really does NOT make sense!

  5. quack quack to you too.
I can't understand why there should be one with feathers ruling the roost. Perhaps it's an old rhyme with a different meaning.

  8. How cute ! Didn't know the song.
Today I will meet a blogfriend from Sidney who came to London for the wedding ! She is in her 60th and wanted to camp in front of the Westminster Abbey the day before. As I live in Brussels/Waterloo, she absolutely wanted to try out the Eurostar and meet me ! I am curious to meet her, she has a lot of humor and has a collection of all kind of royal items from King Edward on til Harry !

  10. I enjoyed how you did the A - Z blogging challenge. I didn't want to do the blog hop, so couldn't respond in the next post. You know a lot of interacting facts. I will watch now to see which direction your blog goes now that the A - Z challenge is over.
