Two

Two

Marnie, aged three.

There were two family birthdays on Friday. Our eldest grandchild was thirty-one and our youngest was six.

Marnie was the first child of our eldest child, Gillian. She was twenty-five when Marnie was born. Marnie inherited the blonde hair and blue eyes of my husband’s family.

Jack is the second child of our youngest daughter, Bethan. She is blonde and brown-eyed and Jack has brown hair and dark brown eyes.

Marnie and Jack are outgoing and confident, with ready smiles and a pronounced sense of humour. Marnie was a chatterer as a small child and remains a ready conversationalist, but even she is outdone by Jack’s loquaciousness.

Jack, aged three.

Each in their own ways had good days, Marnie in Dorset and Jack in London. There are two more family birthdays in November and one in December before Christmas, and another one four days after Christmas. Then it will be 2025!

  1. At three Jack looks more grown up than Marnie aged three, who still had some baby in her features. I know a young Jack who is now six and a half and he is also a great talker.

    1. It must be the name. I know an adult Jack who's a great talker, too.

  2. Your grandchildren look very cooperative youngsters who are pleased to see you.
When my grandchildren got to their middle teens, they were mainly interested in learning to drive and travelling overseas.

    1. I haven't any teens at present. They're an education in themselves.

  3. Lovely children. I'm glad their birthdays were happy. That's quite a span in ages.

  6. What? 2025? That cannot be, surely. It must so nice to have so many offspring, their offspring. I suppose like me you have list of birthdays and note them down on a calendar or in a diary.

    1. I write them all down in my desk diary, but still manage to forget them, sometimes. Life gets busy . . .

    1. It's rare that they all get together. Six of them are 23+ and the youngest three are 6, 9 and almost 12.

  8. This year is flying by just the same as last year, the children have a huge age gap, here our oldest is 19 and youngest is 3.

  11. Our oldest daughter was born just five days before Christmas. We always tried to do right b y her for her birthday.

  12. When our youngest daughter was small, we would celebrate her birthday in June, just to spread it out a little. We couldn't do that as she got older.

  13. Both grands look so adorable. You sure have a lot going on between now and the rest of the year. It's kind of amusing to me because me, my late mother in law and my sister in law all have/had birthdays around Christmas so I know what that can be like.

  20. Oh my gosh! Your grandchildren are so adorable! What fun it must be for your grandkids to share birthdays. My daughter and mother are both born in October.

  21. It's funny how it happens. My son shares a birthday with my niece, and another niece's birthday is the day after my daughter's. It's inevitable, I suppose.

  22. Happy belated birthday wishes to both Marnie and Jack . Hope they enjoyed their special day.
