Ask for Janice
‘Ask for Janice’ is a cocktail bar and event venue that used to be located near the Barbican. It relocated to Tileyard Road near King’s Cross station in June of this year. My middle daughter was amused by the name. There is another place in Brooklyn that goes by the same name, but there is no other connection. ‘Ask for Janice’ comes from the Beastie Boys’ album, Paul’s Boutique.
I'm sure 'Ask for Janice' is very nice and comfortable bar, too.
ReplyDeleteWho knows?
DeleteI wonder if the owner or any of the waiters is named Janice?
ReplyDeletei wonder.
DeleteYou had me wondering if there was a Janice in the bar.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many people do 'ask for Janice.'
DeleteNews to me. With or without your explanation, I would definitely want to go there. It implies a woman is in charge and that means (to me) it's likely a safe space.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice thought.
DeleteI wonder what services Janice provides though? 🤔
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha (naughty, JayCee!)
DeleteFinally your name in lights, take a bow!
ReplyDeleteThe one and only time . . .
DeleteI wonder how many people have actually asked for Janice.
ReplyDeleteI wonder that, too. I bet the staff get fed up . . .
DeleteJust as long as no one expects you to answer and serve them there, lol.
ReplyDeleteThey'd only ask once - serving is not my forte.
DeleteNot a Beastie Boys fan so wasn't familiar with Ask for Janice. Fun name for a bar though
ReplyDeleteIt could be worse.
DeleteThere's another phrase you can use, an Ask for ..., which means you are uncomfortable with the person you are with or a person is bothering you. Staff will then arrange a safe passage for you home. But I can't remember the name you're supposed to ask for! However i can't see myself as needing to use it so that's probably okay.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember, either . . .
DeleteIs it Angela?
DeleteAlison in Devon x

What a catchy name! Catching up on your previous posts, I am ticklish. I had a dog once that absolutely loved to have his paws rubbed, you could almost see the smile on his face as I did it. I miss him.
ReplyDeleteTickling dogs' feet is fun!
DeleteHahaha, I bed you are hiding in the bushes !
ReplyDelete😁
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but that building looks like a hospital to me and I thought maybe Janice ran the admissions desk.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. That's about my mark, I think.
ReplyDeleteJanice. Sounds like she's in charge. Good on her!
ReplyDeleteThere's always a first time!
DeleteI've never seen this place, but now I'll look for it! That's a great name, though I never would have made the Beastie Boys connection.
ReplyDeleteI only know it's the Beastie Boys because I read it . . .
DeleteIf I ran that place anyone with a name similar to Janice who came in would get their first drink on the house :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds good!
Deleteoh to be so sought after!🤣
ReplyDelete🤣😂
DeleteWhat a fun name and reason why that name.
ReplyDeleteIt's different!
DeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteI can see why your middle daughter was amused by the name :)
All the best Jan

DeleteDid your daughter go in and ask for Janice? xxx

DeleteFun! Whenever I see a name of someone I know, I always take a picture of the sign.
ReplyDeleteThat's a jolly thing to do.
