Breakfast
I usually have breakfast sometime after noon. Today, I had an apple at one o’clock, which is quite early for me. The dessert apple harvest has been wonderful this year, but there are fewer to pick now. There are still bushels of crab apples on the trees, but I shan’t be making jelly this year. They will provide food for the birds, unless my granddaughters come to pick them.
The apple, though small, was crisp and sharp and very juicy. Delicious!
I followed it with some blueberry muffins, freshly baked, though not by me.
It is my daughter-in-law’s birthday today, and tomorrow it will be my elder great-grandson’s birthday. Both of them are spending their days at school, but the weekend approaches and I’m sure Fergus, at least, will be celebrating with some friends.
Happy Birthday to your family members!
ReplyDeleteThe muffins look really lovely
They were delicious!
DeleteI have an espresso-only for breakfasts, but your muffins would be very welcome for my lunch.
ReplyDeleteLovely when cool, too, and the berries were still very juicy.
DeleteWe have breakfast around 7:30 AM every day! Maybe a wee bit later oin Sundays.
ReplyDelete😁
DeleteI still always have porridge for breakfast, though for several months now I have eaten it much closer to lunchtime, so I don't need lunch, and then have dinner a wee bit earlier. These days I cook my (store bought) apples for easier eating.
ReplyDeleteMoving from three meals to two has happened quite unintentionally, but it suits me.
DeleteP.S. Happy Birthday to those two.
ReplyDeleteThank you! 😊
DeleteHow do you last out until noon! I have first breakfast at about 7, a little smackeral of something and second coffee later in the morning, a proper meal at around 1 and light supper at 6. I'd be eating pictures of food by 10am if I hadn't had any breakfast!
ReplyDelete🤣😂You haven't the reserves to keep you going that I have, clearly. It's not planned or deliberate - it just happened.
DeletePorridge here at 8am ish, so it must be the cooler months, we always have a good breakfast, light lunch and evening meal at 5pm, nothing after that time. When I worked I often had a mars bar about 10.30 as my first meal.
ReplyDeleteI used to take a Mars bar to school every day for break when I was a teenager.
DeleteHappy birthday to your d-in-law and great grandson. Auspicious days... My daughter and nephew both have birthdays today.
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns to them all
Happy birthday to yours, too. 😊
DeleteThe muffins look good. My breakfast is way earlier than yours. I usully eat around 6 am
ReplyDeleteYou sound like my middle daughter. She gets up half-way through the night (slight exaggeration!) and has a completely different pattern to her day.
DeleteYour breakfast sounds like just the right amount of food however I must have mine hours sooner. The blueberry muffins look beautiful almost too good to eat. But I would chomp right into them I can tell you.
ReplyDeleteThey were very good.
DeleteYour breakfast time is lunch time for me :) I'm not an early riser though so usually breakfast between 9-10 these days... (Yoghurt, tea, toast)
ReplyDeleteI've never really enjoyed breakfast. I had to eat it as a child, of course, but it was always an effort.
DeleteI try to follow intermittent fasting so I too eat breakfast late but more like 11:00. I have not had a muffin in year but when I was younger I did favor blueberry. happy birthday to your grandson and DIL...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judee.
Deletewhatever we call our first meal of the day, mine now occurs at about the same time as yours. This was not always the case.
ReplyDeletePatterns and appetites change through the years.
DeleteWe seem to eat every couple of hours 😄 Or at least have a coffee as a regular stopgap. OH often asks " what's for lunch?" about 11!
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
LOL!!
Deleteyum on apple and muffins. Happy Birthday to your kids and I just had mine last week bob and my sister in law are 1 Oct, Dans wife 3 Oct and BEAU is 14 Oct.. a big birthday month for us
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to all the MadSnappers!
DeleteIt is apple season!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is! 🍎🍏
DeleteI read your post as I ate my breakfast of English muffin with orange marmalade, orange juice and coffee. Normally I would have had some yogurt with that, but the refrigerator was bare of yogurt this morning, so grocery shopping is indicated. A very happy birthday to your daughter-in-law and great-grandson.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen calendar must be like a complicated military plan with so many birthdays on it. I don't know how you can put off breakfast till midday or beyond - not something I could ever do.
ReplyDeleteI don't put breakfast off. I'm just not hungry until at least midday.
DeleteI can't imagine having breakfast that late, but I'm loving the thought of those blueberry muffins - for lunch :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your daughter-in-law and eldest great-grandson, who shares his birthday with Jos! xxx
Happy birthday to Jos! I hope he had something special.
DeleteThose muffins look delicious. I really do enjoy breakfast. Birthday greetings to your family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Polly.
DeleteHappy birthday to your daughter in law. Those muffins look and sound really really good.
ReplyDeleteThey were very good.
DeleteThe muffins look good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter-in-law and Fergus.
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan.
DeleteHappy birthday to all your loved ones. Your breakfast looks a LOT better than mine.
ReplyDeleteToday I had croissants, so naughty, really!
ReplyDeleteMy friends are telling me to buy an air fryer. After seeing these muffins I think I must buy one.
ReplyDeleteAir fryers are so quick and convenient. If you have the space, go for it.
