First day
Ariella is four years old, the daughter of my second granddaughter. She is more than ready for school! Here she waits under a tree in her all-new uniform, keen to start the day. I love the boots!
It was a lovely sunny morning in Dorset, but Ariella carries her own sunshine, anyway!
Ariella is very fortunate to have her cousins living so close. I'm sure her grandmother, my eldest daughter, appreciates how lucky she is to have all her family near . . . and handy for baby-sitting duties!
I don't suppose Ariella will look quite so neat and tidy at the end of her day. See here for a more realistic expectation.
Hope she had a wonderful first day experience. Looks like she has a good support group there !!
ReplyDeleteShe does - a very close-knit family.
DeleteAwww she is a baby girl. like Flora Jane. The children look smart in their uniforms- I do love Ariella's boots! she is going to rock school! Darlings!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Flora's first day went well, too.
DeleteI always like first day of school year photos. I was not able to take my kids photos as I was always at school before they left.
ReplyDeleteIt's become more of a tradition as time has passed. I have only a few of my own children.
DeleteThe boots are fabulous! I am also surprised to see a tie on the older girl. I think here only the more expensive and private schools still require ties, but I could be wrong about that. I'm completely out of touch with schools these days. The twins won't start for another two years and the next oldest grandchild is already 21.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest grandchild is 32 this year. 😟
DeleteKids mentoring kids, love it! I hope they all remain friends throughout their lives.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too.
DeleteI love to see school children in neat, clean school uniforms. They look as if they come from caring homes and schools. But the photos, which I presume are dated recently, look too heavy for late summer.
ReplyDeleteThese photographs were taken on 9th September, the beginning of the autumn term for these children.
DeleteThey all look so smart heading off for their first day back at school. I hope Ariella had a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she did, thank you.
DeleteSuch beautiful children. She really does exude sunshine.
ReplyDeleteShe's a lovely child - hope she stays that way!
DeleteLovely. You are so fortunate to have older great grand children in your life.
ReplyDeleteI am, indeed.
DeleteIt's wonderful that the cousins are close , in all sense of the word. My girls had older cousins that looked after them too. Greek schools start tomorrow with a blessing from the local Priest
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they will appreciate the closeness as they grow older.
DeleteAw! How sweet Ariella looks ahead of her first day at school. With her bovver boots on she will make sure that her bovversome teachers dunt give her no bovver. We received a similar photo of Phoebe on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I was quite surprised at the boots, but then my daughter favoured boots for her daughters, too. Not my problem!
DeleteAw, Ariella is adorable. Nice to have her older cousins near by to help her out.
ReplyDeleteShe's a lucky little girl.
DeleteFirst day back at school is probably unnerving for the parents and the children. I hope they had a great day.
ReplyDeleteI think the parents suffer more than the children.
DeleteHi Janice - brilliant to see ... she'll be bowling all the lads over fairly soon! What fun and as you say ... lovely they can all be around to help each other - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteNot too soon, I hope . . . 😟
DeleteWow, such big boots for such a small person! Hope her first day was a great one!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine clumping along in those . . .
DeleteMy little granddaughter has just started nursery, she's loving it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos

That's lovely to hear. 😊
DeleteYou are so blessed!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt had never dawned on me that ties were a thing in girls uniforms.
ReplyDeleteI used to have to wear a tie at grammar school, but I thought they'd died out in secondary schools these days, for girls, anyway.
DeleteBeautiful children; Ariella looks very dear.
ReplyDeleteShe's a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteall the cousins are blessed to be near to one another, so cute and so sweet that he is taking her to class. our family all moved away and no one even knows each other. my sons do not know my brothers daughter and son and there children have never met each other.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest daughter is lucky to have all her family around her. The other three have varying degrees of support.
DeleteTerrific photos of the kids all together, especially the one of Fergus walking with Ariella! I'm sure you are a proud great-grandparent. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely set of kiddos.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly cute pictures.
ReplyDeletePictures of adorable kids - I love it!
ReplyDeleteShe looks adorable in her uniform. So nice that she has her cousin close by. The tie, nostalgia? Is there a penalty for not buttoning the top button on the blouse/shirt and loosening the tie? Is the tie just for first day? When my girlies went to junior/senior high school, they had to wear the uniform socks (grey, green, or navy) After first day, they could wear any kind of sock they wanted. Many of the girls (not sure of the boys) expressed their personalities through their socks.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photographs and wonderful to have her older cousins near by to help her out.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
