Woodland Walk October 2025
Gilbert drops the ball and waits for it to be thrown again . . . and again . . . and again.
Roxy contemplates the path ahead.
Fungi everywhere
The beginnings of a corduroy road? Or the end? Or just random logs?
Another fungus
Trees have to fight for space and light in some places, so grow slim and straight, almost like railings.
A walk is enlivened by the company of a dog or two.
Retrieving the ball.
Magical.
I love that -- they each carry their own toy. Very organized.
ReplyDeleteDoing what comes naturally!
DeleteThanks for taking us along.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
DeleteThis was a lovely walk, thank you for taking us.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWow, now nice photos. I’d love to travel that path especially with those fine looking dogs.
ReplyDeleteThey went swimming today, so came home wet . . .
DeleteThis is more like our kind of woodland. Many English woodlands that I see are more like parklands, and they always look so darn appealing.
ReplyDeleteI love the woods in all seasons.
DeleteA lovely walk. Full of fun for the dogs. I enjoy the woods at this time of the year with their myriad of colours.
ReplyDeleteIt's changing all the time.
DeleteThank you for a lovely walk!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteWoodland is a great place to be no matter the time of year, but in autumn it really can acquire that magic quality, and I find such leafy paths irresistible. Thank you for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteIt's changing noticeably every day at the moment.
DeleteDelightful.

DeletePure beauty in our countryside, I do love a walk in the woods, these days it's a dash chasing after one of the grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good for children to have the room to run and stretch.
DeleteLovely walk. I miss walking a dog, it is a time of great peacefulness.
ReplyDeleteVery relaxing.
DeleteIt's amazing the way those trees grow. They really are like a fence line
ReplyDeleteIt's almost as if they were planned that way.
DeleteThose are the kind of paths that would make me want to keep on going to see what lies ahead. A walk with a dog or two is always nice.
ReplyDeleteDogs encourage walking. They're such a joy to see.
DeleteIt's a lovely time of year for a dog walk in the woods. All the fallen leaves for them to dash through and so many new smells. Archie used to love his woodland walks.
ReplyDeleteRain and frost bring up new smells, too.
DeleteHi Janice - we went up there occasionally from home in West End - so remember the area fairly well. Sounds like an ideal walk ... especially with the dogs for company - though they do 'demand' balls to be thrown rather often ... cheers enjoy the weather, while it's still 'kind' - Hilary
ReplyDeleteWe have rain in the offing, so things will become rather muddier!
DeleteWhat an amazingly beautiful place to take a walk. Whenever we have gone on our vacations to some of our national parks, I am the one that every time we come to a curve in the path or a hill to climb, I have to continue going because I need to see what's around the bend.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky to have it almost on our doorstep.
DeleteWhat a lovely walk! Roxy and Gilbert are a delight.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSuch a beautiful place to walk and hang out. Gilbert really seemed to enjoy this walking journey.
ReplyDeleteHe surges ahead, Roxy follows.
DeleteIt makes me smile, each of your dogs carrying their own balls. What a beautiful place to walk!
ReplyDeleteThere's never any squabbling, but Roxy is the champion retriever and often shows Gilbert where his ball has fallen.
DeleteWhat splendid paths to walk! Roxy and Gilbert are excellent companions. Walking with dogs, sharing their curiosity and high spirits, makes it all so much better.
ReplyDeleteThey're wonderful companions.
ReplyDeleteI feel very refreshed after such a lovely walk. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely comment. Thank you.
DeleteSuch a pleasant walk in the woods and you can really see that it is starting to be fall. Fungi always amaze me coming in so many shapes and colors!!
ReplyDeleteIt's changing subtly day by day.
DeleteWhat a nice place to go for a walk.
ReplyDeleteIt is. We're very lucky.
DeleteThe woods look so beautiful. You have to drive a rather long way to find bush to walk in here as its all been turned in to farmland (unfortunately).
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame, but all the more appreciated when you see it, no doubt.
DeleteBeautiful views from your woodland walk, and so nice to see Roxy and Gilbert in the pictures too.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I doubt we'd walk as much if we didn't have the dogs.
DeleteLovely photos. I really like woodland walks - especially at this time of year!
ReplyDeleteThe air is lovely, and the smells are so rich.
DeleteThat would be a walk for me ! I love walking in the woods even now in this ugly season. I should rent a dog to come with me, that would be fun. "My" dog whose grandma I am alas lives in Amsterdam !
ReplyDeleteThere are organisations which allow people to hire a dog to walk. Not sure how the dogs feel about such an arrangement.
