Facebook memories
The picture that popped up today was of Frankie when he was little. Frankie is my seventh grandchild, and he will be thirteen on December 1st. My, how time flies! He and his mother lived with us for five and a half years. It was just intended to be for a couple of months, while his mother sorted herself out, but she needed that time to rebuild her confidence. We were happy to have them, and it was a joy to watch the little boy grow up and develop.
Like many small boys, he was obsessed with cars. In this photograph he was sitting in his high chair, about to have his tea.
I couldn’t resist captioning the photograph with ‘Jam for tea??’
I advise all parents and grandparents to cherish such moments because the future is uncertain. It’s good to have sweet memories. Photographs are excellent for capturing them.
I've appreciated having my grands nearby. It was a special time.
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate to have them living nearby. My eldest daughter has her family living close to her - she's so lucky.
DeleteKay of Musings: You are absolutely right, of course. I do cherish whenever we can get together with the kids and grandkids. It’s so hard with our daughter in Chicago and son in Africa. However, we were able to have a video call with them today. Your grandson is adorable and I’ll bet he’s now a handsome young lad.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard when they live so far away, lbut video calls definitely help to lessen the distance.
DeletePerfect timing :) At lunch today I gave my oldest grandchild a cute photo of my two sons at kindergarten, her father and her uncle. I didn't even remember the photo, so thank you Facebook.
ReplyDeleteAww, that's so sweet.
DeleteAdorable. My (about to be five) grandchildren have transformed my life so remarkably...I am so grateful to be enjoying this experience.
ReplyDeleteThey grow up so very quickly. I know that's a cliche but it's true. Hope the new baby arrives safely soon.
DeleteBob the builder and Postman Pat, what more does a young man want. We lose them when they start school and grow up far too fast. Lovely photo. I love the memories of little ones having fun with us.
ReplyDeleteI love the children's songs and remember them much more readily than pop music. That could be because I never listen to pop!
Deleteso cute and happy with those trucks and tractors, and precious memories for sure. I have blog friends that have been friends since I started in 2009, and I have watched their children grow to adult hood, just reading their blogs. they are living proof on how quickly they grow up
ReplyDeleteI get the impression almost daily now that life is draining away fast and there's still so much to do.
DeleteHow cute Frankie was adorable.
ReplyDeleteHe was.
DeleteHe certainly looked to be having fun that day. And hell time flies when we look back on our lives. It was actually very wonderful that you got to spend those years with him when he was so young.
ReplyDeleteWe were fortunate to have that unexpected, unplanned time with him.
DeleteWhat happened? Did Frankie's parents split up when he was little or was there something else? When we make a photograph, it immediately becomes a piece of history and when we look at it again days, months, years or decades may have trundled on by.
ReplyDeleteAn acrimonious split from a coercive bully. Thank goodness there are many good men in the world to counteract the sour taste the awful ones leave.
ReplyDeleteFacebook Memories like these make it worthwhile staying on FB, otherwise, the endless reels and advertising would have me kicking it in to touch. A great photo
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
Facebook is very much a pick and mix experience. The advertisements are a nuisance, but readily ignored.
DeleteHe's so cute. Look at that concentration.
ReplyDeleteI hope he's a cute teenager . . .
DeleteMemories.... ah yes. Time flies past..
ReplyDelete. . . in a flash . . .
DeleteTime sure does fly. My grandson will be 13 in about a month.
ReplyDeleteMy great-great granddaughter will be 13 in March!
DeleteIt must have been really special to be able to watch Frankie grow up!
ReplyDeleteTime does fly indeed. It will only be a matter of time until similar Facebook memories of my own (step) grandson turn up. He's 4 and a half and loves his cars too! xxx
That's a sweet age, when they're still cuddly.
DeleteWhat a joy it is to have a grand so close to where you could see him, for some years, every day or nearly every day. Oh yes, they grow so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate it, especially now that they're all some distance away..
DeleteI love seeing my Facebook memories.
ReplyDeleteSo do I. 😊
DeleteThank you for sharing such a sweet glimpse into Frankie’s early years
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure.
DeleteI agree it's so lovely to capture and enjoy the memories ... so special.
ReplyDeleteI wish Frankie a happy thirteenth birthday.
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan.
DeleteAnd this is what little boys are made of...trucks and play time. sweet memory.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet.
ReplyDeleteI am currently sorting through photos and can't get rid of any of the grandchildren's pictures.
ReplyDeleteOoh, no, mustn't delete the grandchildren's photographs.
ReplyDeleteA lovely photo memory of Frankie as a young boy, enjoying playing with his trucks. Happy 13th birthday to him for tomorrow. Hope he has a great day.
