Arthur and the stick

Arthur and the stick

Arthur is a very easy dog to take walking. He is not interested in other dogs or people, though he greets them politely if required.  He returns immediately he is called. He becomes very excited if balls are involved, making the woods echo with his barking, so balls do not form part of his exercise.

Arthur enjoys picking up sticks, though he is not encouraged to carry small ones, in case they should catch in his mouth or throat.  This 'stick' outfoxed him and he soon abandoned thoughts of carrying it home.

  1. Gosh Arthur is such a lovely looking dog Janice. Yes that stick is a teeny bit too large to carry in his mouth I think (!!)

  11. There is someone in our neighborhood that lives about a mile away and walks a large handsome black dog he has long curly hair. He likes to pick up not sticks, but small tree branches. And He will carry them the entire mile back home if he finds it up here on my hill, lol.

  13. We used to have a wee dog, barely more than a foot long and he would show his machismo by grabbing a four or five-foot stick to carry around the yard!

  14. Our neighours lab always had to carry his (the man’s) mitt home. I presume that he (the man again) took an extra in cold weather.

  16. I love seeing dogs carrying outrageously large sticks -- sometimes two or three at a time. It seems so ambitious!
