Top Secret
Packing up his mother’s house after her death, journalist Harry Makepeace comes across her old sit up and beg typewriter. He runs his fingers over the dusty keyboard, remembering the nights he fell asleep to the tapping of the keys as his mother worked on her latest assignment.
Reluctant to throw away such a potent reminder of her, he decides to refurbish the machine and in doing so discovers a scrap of paper caught under the platen. The words ‘Top Secret’ cause him to examine the platen more closely and the imprints he detects lead him into an investigation that could bring down the governments of two powerful nations.
Security personnel determined to prevent the facts from emerging stop at nothing to maintain the status quo, and as each of Harry’s contacts meets with fatal ‘accidents’, he despairs of ever revealing the truth. Who can he trust? Who will help?
