Announcement
I hesitated to post this before the parents had taken to social media, but now that they have I can introduce my youngest great-granddaughter, Melia (pronounce Meh-lee-ah) Shay. She was born on Saturday 25th February, three weeks early, thus catching out her usually super-organised parents.
In Hawaiian culture Melia means plumeria or frangipani.

In Greek mythology the Meliae are ash tree nymphs.
For now, Melia, just one week old, is keeping her besotted, exhausted parents busy.
Welcome to the world Melia and what a sweet name with such a lovely meaning. Congratulations to her parents, and to you too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. She's got the sweetest parents.
DeleteHi Janice - so pleased for one and all ... Melia Shay looks beautiful and peaceful! Love frangipani ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilary. Frangipani is so beautiful, isn't it?
DeleteCongratulations and welcome to sweet little Melia.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nobby and Gail.
ReplyDeleteI have an announcement secret that I can't reveal yet too.
ReplyDeleteOoh, intrigued.
DeleteOoops! Congratulations, she is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you. She is actually quite presentable:-)
DeleteFrangipani is a great thing to be named with.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone has ever been called Frangipani - I expect so.
DeleteMany, many congratulations to you all. She is absolutely gorgeous, isn't she. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you , Joy, Sweet, isn't she?
ReplyDeleteI hope the young parents don't become helicopter parents ! From Toby as baby I only have seen photos or on the video screen, twice I was allowed to give him his bottle under the eagle eyes of my son, who feared that I would drop him or kill him, it's a miracle that he survived such a mother ! Congratulations btw, great grandma what a title ! She looks very cute !
ReplyDeletePeople sometimes forget how tough babies are;-)
DeleteMelia's father has had lots of experience looking after his nieces and nephews.
God bless baby Melia. She is as beautiful as her name.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda.
ReplyDeleteOo, congratulations to all! She is a beautiful baby indeed. What a lovely name she has!
ReplyDeleteShe is much loved.
ReplyDeleteWhen you haven't had a new child or grandchild in the house for a long time, a baby seems wondrous. My grandchildren are tall, lanky, noisy and always busy, whereas Melia is blissful.
