The first Sunday in June

The first Sunday in June, 2024

We went to the garden centre. The sun seemed to have encouraged people to venture out and it was quite busy. A shiny, smart Morgan was parked in the sun. Beautiful to look at but those who know proclaim it to be the most uncomfortable car imaginable.

This chap had decided to take a rest on a handy bench and watch the world go by.

A wandering stag stopped by to keep him company.

This looked like a bird house, a dovecote, but maybe it was a feeding station or simply something decorative for the garden that has everything.

A fine timepiece.

A closer look.

We did buy some compost, some seeds and one plant!

  2. The time piece is too high tech for me. I just want a simple sundial that tells the time.

  3. Modern gardens have become so much more than plants, in fact many modern gardens don't have much growing in them. I prefer an old fashioned garden with different things growing.

    1. Gardens are for growing and for bees, butterflies and birds.

  4. I would have bought the monkey ! It would fit perfectly on a bench in our park !

  5. 65 years ago, when my brother was in primary school, he would have loved the Morgan that was parked in the sun. He still might now :)

    1. Beautiful lines, but not a lot in the way of comfort.

  6. How enjoyable to see this place. I love seeing gardens of all types. And just think, a deer that is NOT going to eat the place down, lol.

    1. Now that is a bonus - deer are beautiful but they do eat everything, as you know.

  7. Aren't garden centres selling quirky stuff these days? Always good for a mooch and a nice cup of coffee.

  8. What a cool garden center! That chimp had me going for a minute!

  9. The chimp is a cheery little character. We do have a bird bath and seed feeder and three hummingbird feeders but no garden ornaments. I'm curious what plant you purchased.

    1. You have humming birds - green with envy - no chance here, sadly.

    2. We're especially fortunate to have Anna's hummingbirds; they stay year round.

  10. It's fun to visit the nursery to see what kind of whimsical pieces you can add to your garden.

  11. However did you resist buying the monkey?

  12. I always enjoy a visit to a garden centre, you never know what you may see ... although ours hasn't a chimpanzee :)

    All the best Jan

  14. That reminds me, we haven't been to the garden centre for far too long. The one we frequent would have quite similar things on offer, although I doubt there would be a Morgan in their parking lot! xxx

    1. You'd need a large garden for some of the things on offer!
