Propeller?

  Propeller?

Our cactus flowered again. It flowered at the beginning of June.

Obviously it has appreciated the high temperatures in the conservatory, which at times have reached 40˚C.

Viewed from above, it resembles a propeller.

  2. It does look like a propeller and my mum would have loved that colour, she was a fan of pastel shades. I prefer stronger and deeper tones.

  5. Cacti blooms are always especially beautiful. Maybe it's because of their contrast to those dangerous-looking spikes...

  6. Well, the cactus likes the heat, but I am not sure how many humans over there concur. We’re in yet another hot spell too. TG for AC.

    1. Most of us don't appreciate the extreme heat - well, extreme for this little island, anyway!

  7. The cactus flower, stem and roots retain scarce water better than any other plant in our summer garden, and looks lovely when the other flowers and leaves hang dryly and dismally. But a weekly hose spray can make sure the cactus beauty lasts even longer :)

    1. Most years, cactuses would never survive outside in UK. This year they might have done so.

  8. That is just beautiful Janice. Such a pretty colour & obviously likes it where you have placed it. Are you tempted to try to strike a cutting from the side of it - I know I would be.

  11. It does look like a propeller doesn't it. The softness of the colour and the petals contrast strikingly against the harsh spikiness of the plant.
