Look what
the cats and dogs have given me. It arrived by post this morning in a big box.
If I look
after it very carefully it may grow to 90cms – that’s nearly 3’ in old money.
Sadly, it
will never be edible but isn’t toxic to animals, just in case they decide to
sample it.
Apparently, when the fruit drops off it can be propagated.
At present, we are trying to propagate a ‘proper’ pineapple from a ‘proper’ pineapple. I’m not really very hopeful, though. The last time we tried, nice new leaves grew but no roots and the thing eventually mouldered and died.
If the pineapple top on the left fails, we can always try again with the top from the right.
We are enjoying fresh pineapple at the moment - very indulgent.
It's not good for tooth enamel, but then many fruits are not good for the teeth, so we'll take that gamble.
