Shadow Shot Sunday #109

A nameless sculpture by an unnamed sculptor in Canary Wharf.
There are a number of sculptures but none of them (that I saw) carry any information.
Thank you to Tracy from 'Hey Harriet' who organises and hosts this weekly meme. To see more Shadows, please click here.

  1. What an interesting sculpture! Really fascinating with no name and no artist!! But it does make a terrific shadow shot! I love it! Hope your weekend is going well, Janice!

  4. Interesting sculpture-shame about the lack of information. Have you been down in London this week or is this picture(and the Greenwich one from the other day) from another time?

  6. Whoa! I love that image! It is wonderful to have public art like this to come across and then share with the rest of us!

  9. A most unusual sculpture! Almost like a half formed mask! And love the fall of shadow on the left for extra dimension!

  11. What shame the artist is not recognized! I like the sculpture a lot especially with the building as the background.

  12. Stunning photo. Google found -
    "Centurione 1."

Columbus Courtyard. Part of a large bronze head set over the water feature in the centre of the square. (See No. 8. on the MAP )

Sculptor: Igor Mitoraj. Date c. 2000. (See also by the same artist "Centauro" and "Testa Adormentata". )

  14. I find it really odd that there's no information about the piece. It sure makes great subject matter for SSS! The shadowy buidling in the background is cool too!

  16. You got to admit that brainless statue does make you think. What was that artist trying to get across?

  17. Funny that there are no names of artists on these sculptures. Where is Canary Wharf?

Good photo. Since doing SSS, I see more in what I am looking at, especially the shadowy parts.

    Peace.

  18. We visited Canary Wharf when we spent three months in London. I loved the history and what "they've done with the place." (Our whole time in England was a travel highlight of our lives.) I really enjoy reminders of our lovely time there.

  19. Well, now that there is information, perhaps the sculptor can be recognized for such an unusual
    portrait. Great SSS shot!
