ABC Wednesday N is for Nippy

As we approach November the weather is increasingly Nippy. Jack Frost Nips at our toes and encourages some people to have a warming Nip of something before venturing out - Not me, especially if I’m driving.  Noses can become Numb with cold and the North wind Nibbles away at clothing, Nipping into Nooks and crannies when people have been Negligent in fastening zips and buttons.

Needless to say, it is Necessary to wrap up warmly, the Nether regions being particularly susceptible to cold. It’s Nice to wear Numerous soft lightweight layers that Negate the Necessity for one heavy garment. Layers can be removed as required for maximum comfort.

Night-time can be testing. In days of old people would wear Nightcaps – a sensible precaution when so much heat was lost through the head. Nowadays people will sometimes have a Nightcap of a different sort – it may be a warming milky beverage or a cold alcoholic one. Nevertheless, if it aids relaxation and a gentle journey into sleep, No-one Need Nit-pick.

It is Never a good Notion to sleep in too warm a room for Nightmares may ensue and they do Not guarantee a good Night’s sleep and may even lead to a Nervous distrust of the dark. Nonetheless, too cold a room may Neutralise the effects of one’s Night-time Nectar.

Thank you to Denise Nesbitt and her hard-working team who organise and host this weekly meme. Have a look here and you may be inclined to join in!

  4. Great post for the N Day! And it is indeed getting nippy here in Seattle! We've had sun for the past several days and mild temps, but the rain is supposed to be back tomorrow for a WEEK! Hopefully, the weathermen as messed up as usual, but this time of year one never knows. Hope your week is going well, Janice!

  6. I like a cool (but not actually cold) bedroom and a warm bed.
Wearing a nightcap might be better than drinking one, as I'm always up several times during the night.
Nice nifty N post, Janice. The temperature here is right at freezing now, but it should be pleasant before I have to go out for my 3:30 appointment.

  9. Fortunately I haven't had nightmares yet, although the outside temperature reaches 28° at the Red Sea and I don't like air condition in the room during night. What a difference between our countries and here ! There are lots of British people in the Hotel, some of them I can't understand, they have a terrible accent, lol ! They arrived yesterday. There are also Germans and Russians. You can't imagine how good I feel getting my so much needed Vitamin D, lol!

  14. Very wet and windy here. Very unusual for us. The white crowned sparrows have returned. Their call is quite loud and distinctive.

Hmm, I think I'll put on my nightcap and have a nip of nectar to calm the nerves before this night's sleep.
