The Common Carder-bee (Bombus pascuorum) is the commonest of the bumblebees in UK and the most likely to be seen. It flies from spring to late autumn - bet it's tired when it stops ;)
Bombus the bumblebee am I From flower to flower you see me fly Flying from spring 'til autumn late Sore tired wings will be my fate
Terrible what seems to be happening to honey bees around the world, however. That dreadful Colony Collapse disease could leave Bombus the only pollinator left, and then how tired would this bee be?
I'd be pretty tired too if I flew for that long! : ) I love the soft fuzziness of the bee against the striking blue of the cornflower! Glad you didn't end up with that bumble bee in your bonnet!
Great captures- the blue/purple color of that cornflower is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh-about the poor bee being tired! I love the name Bombus-it is so fitting somehow. Beautiful pictures of the flower and bee.
ReplyDeleteI guess bees would get tired, maybe they take a short nap on each flower they land on.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots!
Gotta love a bumblebee named Bombus.

Busy bee, it must hurry and gather the last of the nectar lest winter comes early
ReplyDeleteThe busy, tired bee is burrowing deep into the flower. He's not going to miss a drop of nectar/pollen.
ReplyDeleteHehehe! I guess I'd be tired too. :) Great shots of the bumble bee in action.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. I have so many of this flower in my garden.
ReplyDeleteMy entry is in here, have a blessed Sunday!
I've never been afraid of a bumble bee. Now wasps are a different story!

These look like "bachelor buttons" and we just love them.....as well as the honey that bee will make :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower, very lovely color.
ReplyDeleteI'd never make a great bee. I'm far too lazy! That second photo is exquisite by the way! Wow! I hope you enjoy what is left of your weekend :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful shots! Love the flower colour! In the first photo, the bee really seems quite buried in the flower, intent on nectar!
ReplyDeleteI bet he is tired. I would be too. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, those pretty flowers make such a comfortable bed for those bees.
ReplyDeleteLove the color...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos for SSS! Love flower shots especially!
