Rain!

Rain!

At last the forecast has proved accurate, at least in one respect. We have had rain overnight. We awoke to a soothing susurration,
more of the type that ‘droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven’ than the thunder and lightning with which we were threatened. We were graced with around 15 mm or half an inch, so by no means a deluge.

It was supposed to continue raining during the morning, but the message was lost in the ether, and the rain reduced to a drizzle, and then a memory. We need more, much more.

  1. Hehehe ! our weatherman announced heavy rain, thunderstorms, and nearly the end of the world, the truth is sunshine, some clouds, no wind a dream weather ! I count on Rosie, if she cleans behind her ears then you can be sure that it will rain the next days !

    1. We just get the heavy clouds and humidity, but no thunder. At least we've had some rain, though not enough.

    1. Next time, maybe. It's been a very long time - years - since it rained so hard that the drains were temporarily overwhelmed.

  8. We've had some gentle rain Thursday but only the promise of some since, but rain earlier in June and then the high temperatures had meant our hedging had grown and we've had to have an extra cut.

  11. A bit of gentle rain would be welcome here. It would help the tomatoes and the pumpkins

  14. Hi Janice - down here in Eastbourne we had some thunder and lightning over night with a few periods of rain ... it's dried up now - though more to follow in the next few days - I hope ... we really, as you say, need it. I don't fancy being deluged with the stuff!! Cheers Hilary

  16. Please send a little rain to East Texas....Sadly, other areas of Texas have had more than they could have bargained for in rain. Enjoy...

    1. It's hard - some areas are parched while others are flooded.

  17. Hope you don't end in a drought like we did last summer. Lost 2 large elm trees to it. We are having more than enough rain for this summer so far. Interfering with outdoor fun but it is still welcome.

    1. There needs to some moderation in the weather. Losing two large trees is shocking - they normally survive.

  18. Gentle rain is soothing too - I like walking in light rain and the terriers love it. It seems to enhance the smells they like to seek out and follow.

    1. Rain definitely refreshes all the ground smells. We can smell it, so it must be almost overwhelming for dogs.

    1. We certainly do. The start of the school holidays is usually a signal to the weather gods to send rain.
