Green for Go!
Green is an energising colour. It’s all around us in the trees and the plants.
A green traffic light tells us it’s safe to proceed. People even say they’ve ‘given something the green light,’ meaning that they accept the proposition, whatever it may be.
The green light on our vacuum cleaner operates at floor level and tells us something different. It highlights every particle of dust. Operating the vacuum cleaner is quite mesmeric, as it shows a never-ending quantity of small detritus to be sucked up from our hard floors.
We have animals so there is fur and dust in abundance.
It is not the gadget for an obsessive homeowner, because however many times the machine is passed across the floor, there is always more to be picked up.
Vacuuming in our house is a Sisyphean task.
Green is such a happy color. Even when it indicates that we're picking up for, lol.
ReplyDeleteIt's peaceful, too, and restful for the eyes.
DeleteThere are so many different shades of green, especially in Spring.
ReplyDeleteI don't miss all the dog and cat hair I used to have to vacuum up. When daughter and dogs visit I find it for weeks lol
I love all the shades of green , from palest lemon-green to darkest almost black. Simply beautiful.
DeleteGreen is probably my favorite color ... all shades.
ReplyDeleteAnd even though we're down to just two cats the amount of fur and dust never seems to diminish.
It's amazing, isn't it? Vacuum or sweep up, turn around and there's a mountain of it again.
DeleteYes, vacuuming in a home that has a Labrador in residence can be very challenging on a daily basis π

They have enough fur to spare and share around.
DeleteIn our house vacuuming should be a daily task, but the grey carpet hides much of the debris in between more sporadic attempts.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes (often) wonder why we bother - it's all there to do again later the same day!
DeleteA "Sisyphean" vacuum cleaner? Hell, I am green with envy. Ours is just a Dyson.
ReplyDeleteOurs is a Dyson, too.
DeleteI am looking around and your post is sending me straight to the vacuum cleaner :)
ReplyDeleteSorry about that, Denise. π
DeleteToo many stairs to contend with here.
ReplyDeleteI don't enjoy vacuuming stairs, but this makes quite a good job, skirting round the pulled bits where the cats have used them as scratching posts . . .
DeleteIt keeps just fine until we get to it. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIsn't that always the way? It seems that if you catch one red light, you catch the lot!
DeleteOur second oldest grandson learned early. At the age of 3 he would sit in his car seat in the back seat watching the traffic signal, and the instant it changed he would call out, "Green! Go, go, go!".
ReplyDeleteI think that gene came from his grandmother, who is a living example of the maxim, "He who hesitates is lost". I'm only kidding, but only sort of.
That's wonderful!
DeleteThat was me, sorry. I wonder how many will know the Sisyphus reference.
ReplyDeleteSisyphus just popped into my mind . . . π³
DeleteI learned years ago when our children were still small that it was impossible to vacuum all the detritus from the floor. But if the vacuum didn't find it, the children surely would!
ReplyDelete. . . and seemed to enjoy tasting it . . .
DeleteWhen the kids were younger, we would take them to Center Parcs and then into the centre of the forest - not something I would really do every day and the effect of almost 100% green was stunning
ReplyDeleteYou can almost feel your spirit expand and your body relax in all the green as the trees release oxygen.
DeleteGreen and its many shades, lovely colour.
ReplyDeleteFresh and tranquil.
All the best Jan
Simply beautiful.
DeleteMy robot vacuum cleaner has a few different lights and colours to show. I don't like the red one, indicating it is unhappy about something.
ReplyDeleteYour robot must be working even harder now that you have Jass.
DeleteWe have one of those robot vacuum things, and it fills up daily, and still there is dog hair.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a losing battle.
DeleteKitty fur is like glitter.
ReplyDeleteGood metaphor!
DeleteGreen is my favourite colour, we have wooden floors, so dust is always present.
ReplyDeleteI prefer hard floors to carpet - easier to keep clean, although always showing up every speck.
ReplyDeleteGreen is such a happy color. Half of my house has carpeting and the other half hard wood floors. I see the dirt way more on the hard floors but I like it better than the carpet.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, seeing it is preferable to knowing it is buried in the carpet fibres. π
DeleteI went on finding cat hair for years after my cats had gone. But I was able to cut back my cleaning crew to once a month, one person, no pet household with mainly hard floors.
ReplyDeleteOur Dalmatians' hairs travelled the world on other people . . .
DeleteThe vacuum cleaner and I have a distant relationship. My wife is more acquainted with it. We are two adults, quite organized, clean and tidy, with no pets, yet still the infernal machine has to be pressed into service,
ReplyDeleteI know - you just can't win!
DeleteWith the heat we are having our dogs are shedding like crazy
ReplyDeleteI hadn't noticed ours shedding more than usual, but there's always fur to be found . . . everywhere!
DeleteHa! Can you turn that light off? Sometimes ignorance is bliss. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha!
