Exercises

Just a few exercises for the little grey cells.

Q: They can be made, laid down, bent and broken, although it’s difficult to touch them. What are they?

Q: The maker does not need it. The buyer does not use it. The user uses it without knowing. What is it?

Q: I have neither sister nor brother, but my mother’s daughter is the man’s mother. Who am I?

Q: An aircraft carrying 60 Mexican lawyers to a convention in Rio crashed on the border between Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. Under International Law, where should the survivors be buried?

  1. Well, those require too much thinking for me on a Sunday lol.

  2. I know the last one but won’t give it away. in my youth these kind of questions were asked in what we called idiot tests and that was one of the questions in those tests. The other two, well, it’s the end of the day where I live here and mental exercise is not in my near future. I would love to know the answers, though

  3. Only one gave me pause to think - occupied a cup of coffee time.

  12. How do people know if they are correct if the answers aren't somewhere. Have I missed them?
    The first may be rules.
    No idea about two.
How can a mother's daughter be a man? I think even if explained, I still won't understand.
Four, not hard, although I did think about it for a bit.

  15. Answers:
1: Rules can be laid down, made, bent and broken, but cannot be touched.
2: Coffin. The maker does not need it (immediately), the buyer does not use it (usually), the user does not know of it because, well, s/he's dead! (Cheery, eh?)
3:I have neither sister nor brother, so I am an only child. My mother’s daughter is me, so I'm a woman, and I'm the man’s mother. I am a mother.
4: An aircraft carrying 60 Mexican lawyers to a convention in Rio crashed on the border between Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. Under International Law, where should the survivors be buried?
All the passengers died so there were no survivors to be buried.
To be fair, it doesn't say that there are no survivors - poor wording, though it's reasonable to assume everyone perished.

    1. Survivors hopefully don't get buried (any time soon) no matter how few or many of them they were... ;-)

  16. Mental calisthenics! I got 1 and 4 right away but the other two gave me pause.

  17. I think the point of 4 is to see if the reader is paying attention. Survivors are not buried, period. Whether there were survivors in this accident or not is beside the point.
