Each week she posts a photo that could be the cover of a book. The aim is to:
‘Write a book jacket blurb (150 words or less) so enticing that potential readers would feel compelled to buy the book.’
Here is this week’s book cover. My blurb follows.

A Quiet Life
Soft light filters through the blinds in Harriet’s room. In the still morning air she reflects on the previous day’s events. Family weddings are often occasions for controversy, hilarity and unforgettable events and her brother’s wedding will live long in her memory.
One particular man has piqued her curiosity and she hopes he is similarly aware of her though she’s wary of embarking on another relationship so soon after her broken heart has mended. A text message from him marks the beginning of a helter-skelter period in Harriet’s life and the end of her quiet life.
Will wedding bells ring for Harriet and the new man in her life? Will her life ever return to normal?
(119 words including title)
Great book blurb! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteI would agree with Becky.... good book blurb. I would say her life will not be normal for a period of time. At the end of the book, she'll dump the guy and return to her quiet life. Just saying.....
ReplyDeleteNo her life will be different.
ReplyDeleteHi J.,
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot! I would love to find out how their relationship develops. Funny how times have changed and it is a text instead of a phone call, on a landline, lol.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Kathy M.
Intriguing book blurb, Janice. I would be encouraging her to hang onto her own life, but I suspect there will be wedding bells and a heck of a hereafter. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is the second BBF I've read where a wedding takes place/is part of the plot. Interesting. The beginning of helter-skelter hectic and the end of quiet...MY curiosity is piqued.
ReplyDeleteI'm not alone in seeing romance in this photo, I see. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWith men, life is never normal-LOL! This would make a great romance...
ReplyDeleteThe scene does seem both thoughtful and romantic, and you've used both in the blurb. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI liked how this first put me in mind of the end of a movie...then I decided it was the opening scene! So many possibilities!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a wedding to foster new romance. I hope you'll include a bit of mystery or controversy in the book. Too much romance is like too much dessert. lol Perhaps that heart-breaking ex could come back and stir up some trouble.
ReplyDeleteGood blurb and great use of creativity to draw this from the photo.
Those are the questions we ask when we meet someone new. It is an exciting time!
ReplyDeleteI think you had fun writing this!
ReplyDeleteYou obviously have a gift for this: I could be tempted to buy the book on the basis of your blurb.
ReplyDeleteGreat blurb! This book sounds like a good beach read.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth :)
Wonderful! Loved it! Go on please, I want to read the entire book!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing;o)

Hope you are having a nice and happy weekend****
Mills and Boone and a ext messge thrown in. Intriguing.
ReplyDeleteAt least the author went with the time and lovers communicate per text messages and not with paper letters anymore. Maybe the bells won't ring because there is a glitch in the electrical system and therefore they both stay single.
ReplyDeleteWell now...your blurb surely piqued MY interest. I can't wait to read it...especially the mysterious guy that comes into Harriet's life. Is he tall dark and handsome? Yes indeedy, show me the way to the bookstore shelf!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a pleasure for me that you take time to stop by and leave your wonderful comments!!
Holiday Weekend Shadows is my link. Hope your day is treating you well!!!!
Weddings do seem to stir up conflicting emotions. Your blurb promises a story of change, growth and confrontation...it would be an excellent read...:)
