I'm not sure how it is in England, but here in the states, very few dry the laundry on the line. Everybody has a dryer now, I guess - or so it seems.
It's becoming less common to see washing on the line here in UK. I have a dryer but still use the great outdoors when weather permits - the washing smells so fresh!
