What is it?

What is it?

What is it? Did it give you a start when you saw it until you realised it wasn’t a snake?

Take a closer look – what is that peeping out?

More importantly, what does it signify? Questions, questions – and no answers yet . . . (and yes, I should have swept the floor before I took the photographs.)

  4. I'm guessing it's a marble inside a cat or baby's toy. (Rattle was a great guess from Gattina!)

And nope, I wouldn't have started had I thought it a snake. I rarely start at snakes, and besides - it would have been an truly gorgeous snake, worthy of admiration rather than alarm. :-)

  5. It's a cat toy. Useful for babies and young puppies, too, I should think.
Now I can look back at the other answers. Hmm, I seem to be the most certain of my answer. Would be funny if I'm wrong.

  6. I've stared at it and even called my husband over to look at it. We still can't figure it out.

  8. So how long do you intend to make us stew over this before the big reveal? :-)

Btw, I noticed whenever you visit my blog, my Site Meter records you as coming from Farnham, Surrey. Sometimes the Site Meter is wildly inaccurate, but I thought - just in case - that I'd mention that our long-time and dear friends Iain and Sophie used to live in a beautiful cottage in Dippenhall, and we stayed with them on our two visits to England. We went for lots of walks and did much exploring in Dippenhall and its environs! Loved it! (They live in East Sussex now).
