Mid-March in the garden, 2024
Hyacinth, a beautiful perennial with a luscious scentIt seems, to me, anyway, that it has been a slow start in the garden this spring, so it was a joy to discover how much was putting forth its beauty.
More hyacinths
Forsythia
Do you have space in your garden for a table and chairs, so that you can enjoy the beautiful plants.
ReplyDeleteYes, we sit out when it's dry - IF it's dry;-)
DeleteYou have so much beauty there and so much of it makes me sneeze. I hope you do have a space to sit in your garden to enjoy all of that.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that you suffer through flower scents. My son-in-law is the same, so my daughter can't have scented flowers and some perfumes.
DeleteWhat a fine Spring collection. Not for the first time, I am reminded how you are in a different climate zone from Aberdeen!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
There are many other advantages to living where you do.
DeleteOne sunny day on Friday and my Magnolia flowers all appeared. Hope for more sunshine today for working outside
ReplyDeleteIt often seems miraculous that flowers seem to appear almost from nowhere.
DeleteLots of work to do in our garden - it's not easy maintenance, and that's entirely our fault.
I love this time of year, so much promise, now we have moved things around in our garden, we are noticing more, our magnolia tree is pink, we don't have so many flowers this spring as we cut the tree back last year, our bulbs are putting on a wonderful show. It's lovely when something your though you had lost burst into life.
ReplyDeleteI was just considering something to replace the 'dead' tree and now I don't have to :-)
DeleteBeautiful flowers ! Unfortunately besides the classical once, like Tulips and roses and some others I only know Hyacinth Bucket but they don't look alike at all ! I went to the judge, made myself a "beauty" and .... it was not today but tomorrow. Doesn't matter, I did some shopping instead !
ReplyDeleteConsider it a practice run, Ingrid:-)
DeleteAll those beautiful signs of Spring are making me want to get outside and see the colour and new shoots in our garden. I can smell the scent of the hyacinths. Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely to catch a waft of perfume in the garden.
DeleteNice to see you have Spring weather now. We have snow and I know the neighbors white magnolia tree blossoms will be brown this morn as we are 5 degrees below freezing. And will be again tomorrow. My grape hyacinths just have pencil eraser size buds for now. But in a few weeks all will change. 3 snows after the forsythia bloom and we have had 2 of the 3. I so enjoy seeing your plants and flowers as it helps beat back the winter here.
ReplyDeleteYour spring will be beautiful when it arrives and all the more welcome for a longer wait:-)
DeleteWhat beautiful photos x

Thank you, Alison.x x x
DeleteHi! Thanks for stopping at my blog. I so enjoyed looking at everything in your garden! Spring is such a cheerful, hopeful time.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow yesterday and as I type this I see some snow flakes drifting down again. So, I have to wait for our garden to start and I appreciate seeing yours.
Thank you for returning the favour. Your spring will be so warmly welcomed when it arrives:-)
DeleteGlorious flowers! You have a lovely variety. Here our late daffodils are taking the place of the early. Trillium are at their best just now n the woodland behind our house.
ReplyDeleteI had to remind myself what trillium looked like - aren't they pretty?
ReplyDeleteThey have a special simplicity and purity.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Spring blooms! I especially like the Hyacinth that is pink with pink streaks. Very different from any I've seen.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!!
Thank you for visiting:-) Enjoy your week.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteBeautiful. I see bud but our flowers have still not bloomed. Soon.
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy them even more with such anticipation.
DeleteEarly spring in the flower garden is such a lovely time of promise.
ReplyDeleteIt is a really hopeful season.
DeleteReally lovely flowers and buds. What a promising start to the garden!
ReplyDeleteIn the summer it just runs away, out of control - for now, it's manageable;-)
DeleteI absolutely love seeing our garden's and nature come alive this time of year! Even Dove Cottage's garden is full of Springtime delights in spite of our neglect! xxx
ReplyDeleteEvery day there are fresh delights, it seems. x x x
DeleteMid-March in your garden looks good.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a nice time of year.
All the best Jan
It's a lovely time of year, I agree.
DeleteBeautiful -- you are so far ahead of us here in Wisconsin when it comes to plants. And WE are ahead of last year because of an unseasonal warm period (we usually have snow). I was just pleased to see my rhubarb perking up. And GREEN grass, which is premature as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's worth waiting for:-)
DeleteHi Janice - love all of them ... I used to take in snippets for my mother to feel and see - particularly the forsythia and the pussy willow - when she was in the Nursing Centre. We always had fresh flowers in her room - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteFresh flowers are essential for people who cannot get out - your mother was very lucky to have such an attentive and loving daughter.
