Friday 55 Flash Fiction Intimacy
He lay back while intimate images were recorded by a detached professional unmasking his inner person, probing inside to the core of his being. Hidden equipment clicked and hummed but it wasn't unpleasant, quite clinical in fact.
'You should get the results of your x-rays in the next couple of days,' the radiographer said cheerily.

Hospitals, X-rays, MRIs, barium meal, instrusive cameras, uggh, all things unpleasant. Great 55.

Intimate indeed ~ in a clinical way! Better the radiographer than my GYN :)

Have a super terrific weekend.
What gets to me is the way they hide while doing it, but assure you because you aren't doing it all day it's ok to expose your bones to them.
ReplyDeleteH'mmm, yes - x-rays are best avoided if possible. I remember when children's feet were x-rayed in shoe shops . . . it was fascinating to see the bones but somewhat ill-advised ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think Anthony North explained my feelings on the subject. X-rays usually have an expected result, and the "in a few days" remark can be a lifetime for some of us.

ReplyDelete"In a few days" when waiting for a diagnosis is a lifetime. Nicely done.
