Barry took these photographs during our walks this week on different days. It was good to be out in bright, brisk weather, though the wind was keen.
Not a thieving magpie in the bare branches of this tree but a retrieving crow. We are watched and followed by crows on the days we carry treats for the dogs. Treats are thrown into the pond/s to encourage Frodo to take a bath (though often he plunges in of his own accord) and those he misses are spotted and plucked from the water by the vigilant, clever crows.
Click on the photo to reveal two ponds. These are deep - even deeper at present after our cold, wet winter - and are frequented by three mallards in the Spring. Two drakes and a duck divide their time between the various ponds in the forest but go elsewhere to nest and raise their young so we never discover which drake is the chosen swain!
Thank you to the SkyWatch team for their hard work in organising and hosting this meme. Click here to gaze at other skies.
We've had mostly grey skies here too, although the past few days have been rather nice. YAY!
ReplyDeleteI like the way the grass has fallen over in clumps.
Glad you could get out so we could see your beautiful skies. Gotta love those patient crows! I especially loved the tree line you captured in the second pic. Nicely done, my friend.
ReplyDeleteGreat.

Beautiful captures for SWF post, thanks for sharing.

Lovely photos, - the pale blue sky of spring is a nice backdrop.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.. love those secret ponds!
ReplyDeleteBirds, trees, sky--what's not to love? The crows are getting noisier as things begin to warm up here, so I'm hoping to have the camera handy to catch one of the large, obnoxious specimens that perch over the garden and give my dogs the business. Happy Skywatch Friday, Janice, and have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your positive remarks. The sun and longer daylight hours make such a difference - it's good to be alive. Hope you all enjoy your weekend :-)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clear sky views! It's been raining off and on all week here ... as it is right now.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
