Gilbert the horticulturist
After a bracing walk in the forest followed by an excellent lunch, Gilbert decided to relax with a little indoor gardening.
He chose the plant he wished to work with and recognised that a little pruning was required. Plants benefit from careful trimming.
He was just beginning the next phase, which might have been repotting, when Janice asked him what he was doing. She may have been a little sharp with him.
Sensing that something was happening that might involve her, Roxy came to find out what he had been doing. After some conversation, and a gentle reprimand from her, they both repaired to bed for a well-earned snooze.
Look at that face indeed, as if butter wouldn't melt! I'm sure Gilbert thought you were in need of a helping hand with the gardening! xxx
ReplyDeleteYes, he enjoys helping and has done his fair share outside x
DeleteHow do k9s know to do 'mea culpa' like that? When i help with indoor gardening i get into no end of yrouble. Xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteDo you perhaps get carried away and use the soil for another purpose? Just curious . . . x
DeleteI know I shouldn't, but I couldn't help chuckling my way through this post. I think what made me laugh the hardest was Gilbert's posture and expression. Hard to be too mad at him.
ReplyDeletePuppies know how to appeal . . .
DeleteHe does look as if pleading for forgiveness. Trailing plants are usually quite hardy and I think yours will recover and grow again.
ReplyDeleteI hope so. They usually suffer from neglect rather than a surfeit of attention!
DeleteThe ideal dog for me, I would hire him immediately ! In 45 years and up to 5 cats, none has ever touched my plants ! The plants were tiny and half dead, and without doing nothing (I don't have a green thumb) they grow and grow and had to be cut twice ! Even the move they had survived and my Hibiscus to punish me produced 2 flowers !! People ask me what I do, and I have to answer "nothing" even forget to water them. I love plants and flowers outside, but inside I prefer fake flowers which are so well done that nobody notices the difference and dear Rick has watered them while I was away !
ReplyDeleteHerschel is our gardening cat - he likes to 'prune' the house plants. I make sure we don't have any toxic plants.
ReplyDeleteBless Rick x
Awww, that is the face that could get away with murder! We had a Beagle who dug into the pots so often we had to cover the dirt with netting to keep him out. They try to be help, I guess.
ReplyDeleteThere must be something there that appeals . . .
ReplyDeleteSome pups have a green thumb, and some pups have no thumb. That makes fur a difficult transplant.
ReplyDeleteVery true!
