Tbilisi Children's Capella

Tbilisi Children’s Capella

I came across this video quite by chance, it having led on from another. I was enchanted by it.

Tbilisi Children’s Capella is a children and youth choir from Georgia, named after Georgia’s capital. Tbilisi is Georgia’s largest city, and is home to about a third of the Georgian population.

The choir was founded by Gela Parchukidze, originally as a boys’ choir and was called the Tbilisi Boys’ Capella. After girls were included the name was changed to Tbilisi Children’s Capella.

The term ‘a cappella’ is Italian for ‘in the style of the chapel’ and refers to music that is sung unaccompanied. Although this performance has elements of ‘a cappella’ it also includes instruments.

There are more videos of the choir on YouTube.

                                        I hope you enjoy it!

  1. I liked it, but I do think the choir had too many voices. A smaller choir might have sounded better.

    1. You could be right. I just looked it up and professional groups have 5 to 7. It's the amateur groups that tend to have more, though I would think that this choir is practically professional:-)

    1. As you say, each to their own. As for the HoC, and specifically the Government - pah! We have been watching the Covid inquiry - jaw-dropping accounts of incompetence and arrogance.

    2. Yes! I've been watching some of that...on and
off this week...what can one say...and..keeping
it clean, at the same time..!

I live in a block of four homes, with another block
of four, slightly off set...every single adult, and child,
in the seven other homes had Covid, some 2~3 times,
ME! ME! ME! Nothing....I've been asked many times,
why? why? why? "Willie, you've not had Covid".....
I tell everybody...I'm a Sicilian, and eat a lot of garlic...
Garlic will keep all diseases away..everything..though
it'll also keep most of your friends away to...HeHe! :O)

  4. The owners of Harrison, the star of Nobby's agility training group, went on holiday to Georgia last month and came back with glowing reports of the country (although no mention of an a capella choir!)

  5. It is a beautiful country but not yet part of the 'must visit' destinies, I think, which is good.
I'm confident that, in time, Nobby will prove to be an agility star. After all, he is still very young:-)

  8. Fantastic! An ambitious choice and they did a wonderful job. Of course it doesn't hurt that I love many of Queen's repertoire, including this piece :D

  9. I like Queen and loved Freddie Mercury's voice. Marc Martel is a fantastic singer, too,
