One day
in the garden in June
Strawberries
are growing, but not over-enthusiastically.
Fish are
swimming, but haven’t spawned this year, or maybe they did while I wasn’t looking
or listening. I mean, there’s no mating call, but there is usually a great deal
of splashing.Raspberries
are hiding among the leaves, not big or ripe enough for the dogs to help
themselves.
Philadelphus
is blooming sweetly and scenting the garden.
Cleavers
are springing up everywhere. They’re very easy to pull up.
Blueberries
have a long way to go before they’re edible.
Mahonia japonica
has beautiful Oregon grapes, which are reputedly edible but sour.
The garden is looking beautiful & very prolific Janice. xx
ReplyDeleteCarefully curated photographs, Julie ;-)
DeleteSo pretty! April, May and June are my favorite months in the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely time in the garden, even more so if the sun shines!
DeleteIt's beautiful and productive.
ReplyDeleteCarefully edited - the reality is rather different.
DeleteWonderful pictures. You only have to look carefully and then you discover wonderful things in the simplest places.
ReplyDeleteIt's small things that give the greatest pleasure.
DeleteSo pretty, and fresh! I love your garden.Berries will start to ripen here as soon as the sun comes out, today it did , I could almost hear everything growing!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's a case of 'blink' and it's changed.
DeleteHi Janice - lovely photos ... just lovely this year ... lots of green - and those fruits will fill out soon I'm sure ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIf they don't, they don't - some creature will enjoy them, I'm sure :-)
DeleteAll my fruits are well behind this year, normally we would have blueberries, but they are still green, it's a strange year in the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt is strange. All our pyracantha blossom disappeared in May. It's usually flowering now. The fruit trees had masses of blossom but hardly any fruit has set.
DeleteThis looks to be a delightful and edible place to visit. I think I'll try to fly over and see if I can grab some of your blueberries.
ReplyDeleteCome, and welcome:-)
DeleteI didn't know that about the mahonia 'grapes'
ReplyDeleteThe photos are lovely

I don't think I'll try them . . .
DeleteWhat an enjoyable tour of the garden, and a preview of treats to come.
ReplyDeleteWe shall enjoy whatever chooses to put forth.
DeleteMany thanks for these photographs, they are lovely.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend.
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan.
DeleteBeautiful photos of a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteI don't photograph the less attractive parts . . . ;-)
DeleteGreat to see some of the plants in your garden. I hope those strawberries get growing for you. I had to net mine yesterday. They were new plants and they had produced huge fruit but the birds decided they wanted the first few, now I want a few for myself.
