All creatures
(great and) small
Mr and
Mrs Robin have young to feed.
High up in the trees the youngsters wait.
Goldfinches share the trees with them.
Camera-shy goldfinch.Meanwhile, a very small crab spider on the mallow played hide and seek with Barry’s camera.
Can you see it?Here's a close-up
Peep-oh!
It wasn't playing - it was hunting!
It managed to trap a tasty meal.
What beautiful pictures! I just put in a bird feeder, so I'm hoping to see some birds (or squirrels) soon.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't have long to wait - word soon gets round:-)
DeleteYour photos are stunning Janice!! And look at that vivid blue sky!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie. I just edit the photos - Barry's the photographer.
DeleteVery well captured photos! Those birds look so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe robins are very photogenic.
DeleteOh, my - fantastic photos. xx
ReplyDeleteAll cropped from larger photographs - so much post-editing ;-)
DeleteThat spider looks so unique
ReplyDeleteIt's tiny - less than a quarter of the nail on a small finger.
DeleteWe love the little birds who come into our garden, we sit and chat and watch them for hours.
ReplyDeleteThere's something very special about seeing birds in the garden.
DeleteHi Janice - brilliant photos from Barry ... certainly life is burgeoning at the moment. Delightful crab spider ... thanks - lovely to see - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHe's got the patience - it's a good thing one of us has!
DeleteHusbands can be useful at times. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteHe definitely has his uses!
DeleteI simply love nature. Oh what a beautiful little Robin and it definitely looks different than ours and I do believe the back of your Goldfinch looks like it may be different than ours also. How great you were able to zoom in on that. I like spiders because I think they're extremely beneficial, and when they get into the house I do not kill them, I catch them and put them outside
ReplyDeleteI don't like spiders in the house, but I do find them fascinating in close-up.
DeleteAmazing photos x
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
Thanks to the photographer :-)
DeleteThe robins are charming and beautifully photographed. I don't dislike spiders but don't like finding crab spiders in our garden as they always seem to catch bees.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a shame when the bees become supper.
DeleteWhat a wonderful set of photos. They make me think that I must look closer!
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating to look really closely at 'things'.
DeleteWe enjoy seeing the birds and squirrels who visit the garden.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely photographs ... well done Barry, and thank you for putting them on your blog :)
All the best Jan
Nature watching in the garden is most enjoyable.
DeleteBeautiful photos. I love the robin photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the stick-thin legs of robins.
DeleteMe gusto el pajarito. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteWe like them, too:-)
DeleteFabulous photos, Janice! xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. I'll pass the compliment to the photographer :-)
DeleteIt's always great to see a crab spider, those efficient ambush specialists.
ReplyDeleteTiny but deadly!
DeleteBarry is a wonderful photographer!
ReplyDeleteHe's quite dedicated . . . to lots of things:-)
DeleteI (American) so enjoyed your pictures because European robins and European goldfinches are probably the two birds of yours that I can identify. Possibly great tits, also, because they resemble our black capped chickadees superficially. Our robins are larger than yours and are not related. It would be so cool to see "your" birds in person one day. I think we have crab spiders but I have never seen a white spider, ever.
ReplyDeleteI have always called my babies and little people 'chickadee' - no idea why :-)
DeleteHi Janice, I do miss European robins with their red breasts. They remind me of when I lived in England. We have robins in the South Island of New Zealand, they are black with a white breast. Not quite the same, although they are friendly as well. Hugs, Rose x
ReplyDeleteRobin Whitebreast doesn't have quite the same ring to it . . .
DeleteWonderful photos of the robins and goldfinches. It is such a joy to see them visiting the garden.
ReplyDeleteThe crab spider is an amazing close up. You have a great photographer on hand. Well done, Barry.
Thank you - I have passed on the compliment.
