Microfiction Monday #47

Lovely Susan from 'Stony River' organises and hosts this weekly meme. Thank you Susan J She provides a picture and the challenge is to create a story in 140 characters or less – including punctuation! Click here to read more marvels of microfiction – and perhaps join in. It's fun!

Here is this week's picture accompanied by my offerings. The first one is directly influenced by the film I watched with my grandchildren on Saturday evening, '2012'.

Though seaworthy, Noah's boat was small. He watched as the wave threatened to engulf him. He couldn't believe it. Was it 2012 already?

Canute realised his advisers were wrong in thinking that he would be able to control the tides from a boat. If he survived heads would roll.

  10. These are both good. I think I like the 2012 one best, if I had to choose--but--I guess I don't have to choose, do I? Whew! That's a load off my chest.
    Have a great week. Cheers!

  13. Noah's been out on the open sea incommunicado for too long. And Canute will be fortunate if he ever sees his advisors again.

    Excellent, both of them!

  14. Obviously, the advisors were right in thinking that he would believe them! A simple way to dispose of a troublesome king.

  18. Canute has just learned an important lesson -- if you're the boss, surround yourself with people who will tell you NOT to believe your own press!

    Well done!
