New hobby

New hobby

Finding time on his paws yesterday, Gilbert discovered a new hobby – doily cutting. He took the paper to his bed and set about creating a pretty pattern.

As with all crafts, preparation is key – measure twice, cut once. Of course, Gilbert can’t use scissors, that would be silly, but he uses his teeth and claws efficiently. You can see on the lower part of the paper how his first attempt shows enthusiasm rather than precision.

In the upper part, the work, though not finished, is far more defined. With a little more practice, Gilbert could prove to be a talented artist, and remember, he is still of tender months. Who knows what the future might bring?

  1. LOVE IT!!!! Though I'm a little jealous that Gilbert is a more talented crafter than I am.

  4. Gilbert is a real artist ! You should keep his artwork and do an exposition ! Art on toilet paper is quite special ! Toby's doggy Lea, prefers to bite in legs, she is 3 month old now and does a lot of silly things (Toby seems less enthusiastic than his father, he complained to me that Lea makes too big kaka!)

    1. Has Toby been given the job of clearing up after Lea??

  5. Gilbert didn't exactly make a bang with his first artwork. Most young would tackle art with much enthusiasm.

  6. Apparently there are hidden depths and talents Gilbert has yet to reveal. There is a certain unexpected delicacy to his work. It will be interesting to see where he goes with this.

  7. Try him on different types and colours of paper, you never know what might look good framed and hung near his bed.

  8. What a clever boy :)
As we all age, I would hope Gilbert could use his skills for more life-saving behaviours. Like a seeing eye dog, could Gilbert walk you to the shops? Carry the groceries home for you? Bring you the mobile phone in his mouth when it rings? Bring your mail in from the letter box?

    1. I'm sure he could, if only his owners weren't so idle.

  13. Funny! Gilbert the artist :)

Cats love paper towelling too, or maybe I should say they dislike it and try to disembowel it, resulting in shredded paper towel everywhere.
