Raspberries!
The first raspberries of summer had to be picked quickly before Roxy realised and sucked them off the canes. There are more to come, which will make up for a distinct lack of strawberries and cherries.
We may still get strawberries and blueberries and there are plenty of plums, greengages, apples and pears to come – if the birds don’t get them first, which actually I wouldn’t mind too much! Every little mouth needs feeding. We all have our place in the universe.
"Every little mouth needs feeding" - balm to my soul to hear this from other humans. Sometimes, among the folks I know in "real" life, I feel I am alone in my concern for all living critters, but of course I am not, and it helps to be around like-minded people in blogland and be reminded of that. P. S. Raspberries are divine, even though I can't indulge in more than a few due to GI conditions, drat it! I hope you get some yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jenny:-)
ReplyDeleteOh, delicious. I could live on raspberries. Well, I feel I could. I'm not so charitable about slugs as you are about other little mouths...
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to find ways to celebrate less attractive, more destructive creatures.
DeleteThey look so delicious and I'm glad the birds shared them with you! ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteThe birds ned to get there before the dogs do ;-) x x
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh ... those look so delicious - raspberries are definitely my favourite fruit ... but am enjoying a few cherries now - then I'll revert! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThey were delicious and there are more to come. We have two cherry trees and found one cherry - rather sad!
