Decorated

Decorated

The cats were not enthralled with the idea of being decorated for Christmas. There was a great deal of rushing around as they tried to rid themselves of the rustling, strange-smelling adornments. Thus, in some instances, their photographs are rather fuzzy
'Who will rid me of this turbulent tinsel?'

Herschel decides on the off-the-shoulder look

Jellicoe raced around as if by moving really quickly the thing around his neck would be left behind. His off-the-shoulder look eventually became an off-the-tummy look and finally an on-the-floor look. He and Herschel quickly forgave me for my insult to their dignity, Jellicoe even deciding to sleep on the tinsel. It's true, as Eleanor Farjeon said, 'Cats sleep anywhere.'

Gilbert and Roxy took the whole exercise in their stride and didn't attempt to escape.

                                Just look at those eyes!

How long will it be before I'm disturbed?

                                                 Not long!

                                    I love him really!
Gilbert and Roxy went to sleep with their fancy collars. Is there a poem starting, 'Dogs sleep anywhere'? There should be.

  1. Dogs seem much more cooperative and more eager to please than cats, it seems :)

  2. Oh the poor cats, if only they'd known it would only be for a few minutes.

    1. It falls apart so readily, to add to the usual detritus of everyday life . . .

  5. There is'nt one about dogs..but there is one
    about cats...
    Cats sleep, anywhere,
    Any table, any chair
    Top of piano, window-ledge,
In the middle, on the edge,
    Open drawer, empty shoe,
    Anybody's lap will do,
    Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-
    Anywhere! They don't care!
    Cats sleep anywhere.
    (Eleanor Farjeon).

  7. Well done those pets.
I haven't dare even try decking Nobby with tinsel...

  8. Gilbert makes my heart melt with that look of his.
Your cats don't seem to appreciate their tinsel collars as much as the dogs but all seems to have ended well in the end.

    1. They were all divested of their fripperies quite quickly and peace and dignity were restored.,

  9. My Rosie would have run away if she only saw me with the tinsel and to catch her is like a slippery fish. The only one with whom you could do almost everything was the late Arthur. The dogs look cool too !

  10. Once or twice I've managed to get a bandana tied around Precious for about 2 seconds. At least you managed to get good pictures of the kitties.

  11. Soooo funny, and I'm sure the cats have forgiven you now!
We have xmas coats for our 2 terriers, although I've noticed over the years there are some folks who obviously think we are idiots for dressing up dogs. Our Jas the lab just has tinsel too 😀

    1. There are some very amusing Christmas outfits for dogs - I'm slightly tempted but I know they'd be covered in mud in no time at all. x

  12. I love the patient look your dog is giving you. Very unlike the look of a cat, isn't it?

  13. Definitely. Cats can look very cross but dogs are big softies.

  14. Herschel and Jellicoe obviously don't appreciate being fashion plates. I haven't yet worked up the courage to decorate our cat Cricket. Gilbert's look is heart-melting. He and Roxy are such good sports.

    2. He's quite the character as orange cats tend to be. We've always enjoyed a multi-pet home but the years have taken their toll and it's now just Cricket. He takes our full attention!

    3. You're quite right about orange cats. My daughter's orange cat is a real personality, loudly demanding attention from all, familiar and strangers.
