Snoopy
Snoopy sleeps on top of his kennelI love Snoopy and was delighted to discover that I could feature him on my watch. He makes a lovely change from the butterflies, flowers and jellyfish I have had before – not all at the same time, obviously. - that would be silly!
Charles M. Schulz, the creator of Snoopy, or rather that should be the chronicler of Snoopy, was an American cartoonist. He is credited with being ‘one of the most influential cartoonists in history’. His comic strip, Peanuts, mainly featured the hapless, perpetually surprised but always optimistic Charlie Brown and his pet dog, Snoopy.
Snoopy aspires to be a writer
Snoopy was
inspired by one of Schulz’s childhood dogs, Spike. Snoopy is a dreamer, one of
his favourite fantasies being that of a flying ace of the First World War, a parody of a British officer, complete with flying helmet and swagger stick, without which no officer was complete .
His dreams of stardom and fame come to naught. He is loyal to Charlie Brown, though he can never remember his name.
I am the only adult I know who always sleeps on her front. Just like Snoopy sleeps on top of his kennel.
ReplyDeleteLucky you! I can't sleep on my front - it makes my back hurt!
DeleteSnoopy is a favourite of mine too and my youngest son is a tummy sleeper.
ReplyDeleteI foresee a new blog post - favourite sleeping positions.:-)
DeleteNow I know the connection between the Red Baron and Snoopy. I never got it. Now I have a flea in my ear. Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more....
ReplyDeleteNice watch btw.
DeleteThanks - I don't use half the apps!
DeleteI love Snoopy and all the peanut gang. I kind of figured if you didn't like them then you're probably very not a happy person
ReplyDeleteI thought Schulz's observations were spot on and always made me smile.
ReplyDeleteI love all things Snoopy. My late Dad had a large collection of the Peanuts books, and I would spend hours enjoying the silly but clever cartoons. I used to have a soft toy Snoopy but I don't know what happened to him!
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
It's strange how much-loved toys simply disappear. I'm sure there's a Snoopy somewhere in this house . . .
ReplyDeleteEven I know him ! I was not allowed to read cartoons (especially Americans) when I was a child. My father found it not enough intellectual ! Result, I read it with pleasure and had the book under my pillow !
ReplyDeleteForbidding something is bound to make it more attractive:-)
DeleteThere was a Peanuts cartoon in the weekly TV magazine my Dad bought. But although I love Snoopy, my favourite must be Lucy! xxx
ReplyDeleteI liked Schroeder, too. x x x
DeleteI've always been a snoopy fan :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Join the gang!:-)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Peanuts character is Pig Pen. I always felt a little sorry for him.
ReplyDeleteYou've got to feel sorry for beaten-down pigs.
