SkyWatch Friday Season 4 Episode 3 Daybreak

Daybreak - July 27th 2010, 05:08 - from the patio
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
Marcus Aurelius (26.04.101 - 17.03.180)

Morning is the best of all times in the garden. The sun is not yet hot. Sweet vapors rise from the earth. Night dew clings to the soil and makes plants glisten. Birds call to one another.
Bees are already at work.
William (Frank) Longgood (1917 - )

An aubade is a song or musical composition about or evoking daybreak. Sometimes it is about lovers separating at dawn.

And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His Heaven;
All's right with the world!
Robert Browning (07.05.1812 - 12.12.1889)
(This poem was written later - or earlier - in the year for dawn in July is around 5:00 am)

  1. Such different shots taken at the same spot, it all depends on where the clouds lay.
    I like the choice of words as well.

  5. What a lovely combination of words and pictures! I really like all the poems and quotes you chose. I love being outside early in the morning but it rarely happens! I got up at five the other morning to feed a nagging Lily, and took a photo of the sky, then forgot later and cleared the photos off my camera!
    Thanks for the haircut comment!

  11. You do get up early, but your reward was watching that beautiful dawn. I'd never heard of an audabe, so you're improving my vocabulary today. Lovely quotes and poem.

  13. Sunsets were a disappointment in Belgium this summer. And it was the warmest stretch of weather on record, too. Everyone was perplexed but pleased (except for the sunsets).

  15. Many times the sun rise is more beautiful than a sunset. Great pictures.

  16. Marcus Aurelius said THAT! Just don't think of the Romans as having that kind of appreciation and spirituality. They must be victims of profiling!

  20. Looks like a terrific morning--and much better to be quoting Browning than Coleridge, I think!
