Daybreak - July 27th 2010, 05:08 - from the patio
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.Marcus Aurelius (26.04.101 - 17.03.180)
Morning is the best of all times in the garden. The sun is not yet hot. Sweet vapors rise from the earth. Night dew clings to the soil and makes plants glisten. Birds call to one another.
Bees are already at work.
William (Frank) Longgood (1917 - )
An aubade is a song or musical composition about or evoking daybreak. Sometimes it is about lovers separating at dawn.
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His Heaven;
All's right with the world!
Robert Browning (07.05.1812 - 12.12.1889)
(This poem was written later - or earlier - in the year for dawn in July is around 5:00 am)

Such different shots taken at the same spot, it all depends on where the clouds lay.
ReplyDeleteI like the choice of words as well.
Such beautiful images! Looking at the sky early in the morning is so invigorating, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMorning is a great time to be in the garden - I agree with the quote.
ReplyDeleteYour bottom daybreak photo is beautiful.
Gorgeous skies, clouds and colors and the perfect words to match! Marvelous captures, Janice! What a way to start the day! Enjoy your weekend!

What a lovely combination of words and pictures! I really like all the poems and quotes you chose. I love being outside early in the morning but it rarely happens! I got up at five the other morning to feed a nagging Lily, and took a photo of the sky, then forgot later and cleared the photos off my camera!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the haircut comment!
What fabulous pictures. Early morning is my favourite time of day too.
ReplyDeleteSame composition, different skies - I like it.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of lovely skies. I also like the wildflowers in your sidebar.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your visits to my blog.
A lovely daybreak picture, and your excerpts are familiar and beautiful and very apt.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely sky pictures. I especially like the last one of the beautiful sunrise, so colorful.
ReplyDeleteYou do get up early, but your reward was watching that beautiful dawn. I'd never heard of an audabe, so you're improving my vocabulary today. Lovely quotes and poem.
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous photo of the sky, like the second photo it's colorful.
ReplyDeleteSunsets were a disappointment in Belgium this summer. And it was the warmest stretch of weather on record, too. Everyone was perplexed but pleased (except for the sunsets).
ReplyDeleteYour patio offers lovely views at daybreak...all's right with the world...
ReplyDeleteMany times the sun rise is more beautiful than a sunset. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky shots!

Marcus Aurelius said THAT! Just don't think of the Romans as having that kind of appreciation and spirituality. They must be victims of profiling!

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty, delicate skies! And love the range of quotes on morning!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a terrific morning--and much better to be quoting Browning than Coleridge, I think!
