Call me by my name, please,
Call me by my name.
I'm someone else's mother,
Someone else's wife,
Someone else's daughter -
Is this someone else's life?
I mirror others' glory,
Rejoice in all their deeds,
I linger in the background,
Anticipate their needs.
Look beyond the labels
And see the steadfast soul;
The woman that I once was
Is still there, strong and whole.
Call me by my name, please,
Call me by my name.

Difficult to call you by your name when you don't seem to have one! Who is JC, one wonders. A blog is a great way to become visible - it is instant gratification once you get the hang of it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely poem Janice, thanks for sharing another great post. The link is okay over at Today's Flowers now. Thanks for stopping by and letting me know there was a problem.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem Janice! I can relate to these words, as perhaps most women can. I have been busy putting more of my poetry on Facebook, where I should perhaps be putting photographs...never did like sticking to the rules hahaa x
ReplyDeleteI like that.
