Today's Flowers #60 Longiflorum lilies
I bought some Longiflorum lilies last week. I love their form, their scent and the fact that they last so long. They were in tight bud and as the days passed they gradually opened to reveal their rich interiors. The scent can be quite overpowering in a confined space. One of my favourite card shops always displayed vases of lilies and I loved going in there but they stopped having them and lost something by so doing.

I love lilies but can't bear them indoors because of the scent. Yours are beautiful ;--)

ReplyDeleteLovely macros!
ReplyDeleteBeing in a public space where some might be overpowered by the scent could be the reason for the card shoppe not displaying them.

They are beautiful flowers but don't you have to be careful that the cats don't get close to them?
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments.
ReplyDeleteCarletta - I suspect that was the reason the shop stopped having them - either that or someone got lily pollen on their clothes ;-)
Gennasus - you're right. Lilies are poisonous to cats but ours have proved not to be plant eaters - perhaps the raw food we give them curbs their appetite for greenery!
Very beautiful flowers! So elegant!
ReplyDeletevincibene - thank you. I love their elegance too.
