A nightingale sang in . . .

If you completed the title with 'Berkeley Square' as I would have done, you might have been surprised to find that it was in a forest in Cologne. It doesn't have quite the same ring, does it?

 Apparently, in Thasos, a Greek island in the north Aegean Sea,  the nightingales sing both day and night - how wonderful that must be!
