The challenge at 'imaginary garden with real toads' was set by Laurie Kolp. Her word, 'allegro' was to be incorporated in an eight-line stanza that had to be written in one minute.
As she said, 'To sum it up: One word (allegro), one octave, one minute.'
I
said, ‘Allegro’ to my pup -
‘Twas
meant to make him hurry up,
But
he just rushed straight back indoors
With
lightning haste and muddy paws
And
jumped into the litter tray
To
piddle quickly. Now each day
He
turns his nose up when it’s wet
And pees
inside, the little pe(s)t!
Not rubbish at all - it was a delight!
ReplyDeletehaha! Your pup must know my pup. Kudos for adding a rhyme scheme in under 1 minute.
ReplyDeleteNow this made me laugh Janice. You're very clever to do these challenges. It would take me a lot longer than a minute to come up with anything that witty, if I ever did!
ReplyDeleteHa! You met the challenge well and I can empathise with the litter tray and the rain thing!
ReplyDeleteA perfect description of the joys of training a puppy. Fun one.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Thanks for participating... the poem can be shorter than 8 lines, but you were able to all this in a minute... WOW!
ReplyDeleteThat was great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliantly fun piece in such a short space! You even packed a rhyme scheme in there!
ReplyDeleteCute, both the musical and puppy versions!
ReplyDeleteFun and funny. Every dog owner will share the laugh.
ReplyDeleteDoes he use the kitty litter every time it's raining out?

Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteHahaha ! are you sure he doesn't have some cat ancestors ?? What a sweety !
ReplyDeleteThank you all:-) Unfortunately, Bertie is a little inconsistent in his use of the cat litter tray but he has used it several times and been praised for it. I'm not sure what Winston makes of it, though!
ReplyDeleteThis would have been a worthy offering even without the constraints. With them it's phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what can be done in a minute when you're up against it. Bet Bertie agrees. Excellent little poem.
ReplyDeleteGreat fun
ReplyDeleteClever AND cute!! Thanks for the smile.
ReplyDeleteAwww! This is so cute!
ReplyDeleteLittle Pest indeed. I once had a dog like this (she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge), and she never DID learn. She was loveable, but....
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, fun, fun! You're very talented and Bertie is smart not to out in the rain.
ReplyDeleteI love it! And you wrote it in one minute, amazing.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what Winston thought about sharing the litter box.
A fun poem of the kind which is close to my heart! ♥
ReplyDeleteCute! Good thing he has an option.
ReplyDeleteHaha! Love the poem! 'Allegro' is one of my favourite words.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Shouldn't laugh really... By the way, your header shot is stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is fantastic! You are so talented. Thanks for your visits even though I've been too busy to get around to visit everybody.
